Three Buy Low Dynasty Tight Ends

Buy Low Dynasty

The key to winning in dynasty fantasy football? Buying low and selling high. You need to be ahead of your league mates with adding guys who are about to blow up on the cheap. When looking for players, who are ideal buy-low targets, fantasy owners should look for a change in their situation. With free agency in full swing, there is no better time to look for buy-low candidates in dynasty. Keep in mind, we are diving deep here, some of these guys might be on your waiver wire. Without further ado, let’s take a look at three buy low dynasty tight ends.

All fantasy stats are base on PPR scoring.

Brycen Hopkins, Los Angeles Rams

If you play in a league that allows players on your taxi squad for two years, Hopkins is a guy you want to target. While he just finished his rookie season with two total offensive snaps, the Rams used a 2020 fourth-round pick on him and believe he is part of their long-term plans. The reason Hopkins saw only two offensive snaps last season was because he got buried on the depth chart behind Gerald Everett and Tyler Higbee. However, Everett signed with the Seattle Seahawks this week. Furthermore, the Rams will have salary cap problems again next year. They can save $5.7 million in cap space by releasing Higbee after the 2021 season. Hopkins could very well end up being the Rams’ starting tight end in 2022.

Anthony Firkser, Tennessee Titans

Firkser isn’t a household name, but his fantasy value is about to skyrocket. The Titans released Adam Humphries earlier this month after struggling during his time in Tennessee. Then, Jonnu Smith signed with the New England Patriots while Corey Davis signed with the New York Jets on Monday. The trio combined for 129 catches on 192 targets, 15 touchdowns, and 289.4 fantasy points last season. Furthermore, Firkser had an impactful 2020 season in Tennessee.

The reason why the Titans didn’t make more of an effort to re-sign Smith was their faith in Firkser. Last season he had 39 catches of 53 targets for 387 yards and one touchdown. The biggest difference between Firkser’s 5.2 fantasy points per game and Smith’s 9.3 last season was the touchdowns, as Smith had eight compared to Firkser’s one. However, with several of their weapons elsewhere, Firkser will step into the No. 1 tight end role next season. If Firkser can find the end zone six times next year, he will see enough targets to finish the 2021 season as a TE1.

Devin Asiasi/Dalton Keene, New England Patriots

Despite spending two 2020 third-round picks on Asiasi and Keene, the Patriots gave Smith and Hunter Henry $87.5 million in free agency this week. Obviously, the Patriots had a change of heart regarding their rookie tight ends. The Patriots may keep both rookies to go along with their free-agent acquisitions, but they could also trade one or both. If you play in a league with a two-year taxi squad rule, both Asiasi and Keene are prime trade targets. Given what the Patriots did in free agency this week, you can probably get one of them for a future fifth-round rookie pick or even less. If you liked one of these rookies before the 2020 draft, now is your time to buy them for pennies on the dollar.
