Welcome to another edition of Cap’n Kielar’s Best Bets. Yesterday was a pretty good day as we went 2-1. Let’s roll with five college basketball picks on this Super Tuesday.

Overall record: 14-15
UConn vs. Providence (+5.5)
Providence has won two straight games, the first being an 11-point victory over their opponent today. The Friars were able to cover the spread in each of those contests. On the other side, UConn comes in off a big 80-72 win over Xavier and are 9-5 on the season.
In this one, however, the home team will be down their best player, James Bouknight, who is dealing with elbow issues. Bouknight is the Huskies’ leading scorer at 20.3 points per game this season. They will struggle without him. Look for Providence to come away with a cover of the spread and maybe a win.
Georgia vs. Missouri (-3.5)
The Bulldogs have really struggled in SEC play this season, going 5-8. Turnovers have plagued them, as they have turned the ball over on 22.5 percent of their offensive possessions. Georgia is coming off a game against Alabama in which they allowed a massive 115 points, while Missouri is 5-0 ATS in games their opponent allowed 100 or more points in their previous game.
Georgia hasn’t been able to get stops defensively, as they are second-to-last in the SEC with an effective field goal percentage defense of 55.4 percent and a league-low defensive rebounding rate of 62.6 percent. The Tigers are 40th in the NCAA with 111.9 points per 100 possessions for the season and should run away with this one.
Arkansas (-4.5) vs. Florida
Arkansas is coming in on fire with six straight conference wins. Florida hasn’t played in nearly two weeks because of COVID-19 protocols and could come into this game rusty. It took an overtime period, but Arkansas beat tenth-ranked Missouri on Saturday. Look for Arkansas to take advantage of an unprepared Gators team and cover the spread.
Maryland (-9.5) vs. Nebraska
Nebraska comes into this one after a one point victory over Penn State, which really isn’t much to write home about. The Cornhuskers don’t cover numbers and have lost on the road by an average of 16.8 points. Maryland wins at home by an average of 8.2 points and 14 as a favorite. They are not always consistent, but Nebraska is just so bad it’s easy to see Maryland taking control.
Rhode Island vs. Dayton (+3.5)
Rhode Island being the favorite after four straight losses is a surprise here. The Rams’ last five losses have come by an average of 3.6 points and they have shot just 41.3 percent from the floor in those games. Dayton has been the better team lately and this game should swing in the Flyers’ favor. Fade Rhode Island all day.
