?Austin Carr Another Feel Good Story?

Some might say Northwestern product Austin Carr resembles a Julian Edelman or Wes Welker-esque story about coming up in the NFL.

But is the story “so feel good” if it results in you being one of the best wide receivers in the NFL?

The answer to that is a simple NO.

Austin Carr put on a show against a Jacksonville Jaguars secondary (granted most were second team players) but that does not take away from his production level. Jimmy Garoppolo rolled out left and proceeded to throw off his back foot to the back of the end zone in what seemingly would result in a pick or incomplete pass. However, Austin Carr used what he could of his 6-foot frame to make a leaping grab which resulted in an unbelievable touchdown.

Many have followed the story of Carr and his journey to the NFL, from a senior standout at Northwestern to an undrafted free agent Carr presents the same type of style you saw out of Brady and Edelman when they were last picks in the draft, that style you ask… more heart than anyone that steps on the field.

Yes, Carr has the athletic ability to make plays are represented by the leaping grab parallel to the end zone but it was often overlooked by coaches especially NFL coaches.

Carr faces an uphill battle alongside teammate and former mountaineer Tony Washington for a spot on the 53-man roster that already features WRs: Brandin cooks, Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Chris Hogan and Malcolm Mitchell. That will not keep Bill Belichick from ruling anyone out though, it’s the patriot way, put out or get out.
