Fantasy Football Buy and Sell Advice: Week 13

Raheem Mostert

For most redraft leagues, playoffs begin next week, which likely means that your trade deadline is passed. However, for those with deadlines still looming, here are players you should look to buy and sell heading into Week 13.

Quarterback

Buy — Lamar Jackson

Jackson is currently dealing with COVID-19 and wasn’t able to suit up for Wednesday’s game against the Steelers. Combine that and his mediocre play lately, and you have the perfect buy-low opportunity. Jackson is set to face Cleveland, Jacksonville, and the Giants in Weeks 14-16, which is an extremely easy playoff schedule. The reigning MVP is too talented to not take advantage of those matchups.

Sell — Deshaun Watson

This has absolutely nothing to do with Watson’s talent, and everything to do with his situation in Houston. The dual-threat quarterback has now scored 31 or more in back-to-back games. However, he lost his best target in Will Fuller for the rest of the year due to a PED suspension. The Texans also foolishly cut Kenny Stills, so all of a sudden Watson’s weapons have seriously diminished. If you can sell him for a quarterback with a better playoff schedule in a more reliable situation, do it.

Running Back

Buy — Raheem Mostert

Mostert came off injured reserve last week and was mostly contained by the Rams (no shocker there). However, he’s still the workhorse on a run-first team set to face Washington, Dallas, and Arizona in Weeks 14-16. That’s a pretty enticing playoff schedule, and Mostert has legitimate league-winner potential.

Sell — Latavius Murray

Murray has always played a significant role in the Saints’ offense, but he took control of the backfield last week against the Broncos, racking up 124 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. If there’s a time to sell him high, it’s now. Don’t be fooled by his stats, Alvin Kamara is still obviously the back to own in New Orleans. However, Taysom Hill now poses a serious threat to vulture rushing touchdowns from both of the Saints’ backs. If you can get some value for Murray this week, don’t hesitate to do so.

Wide Receiver

Buy — DeAndre Hopkins

Hopkins has now turned in two duds in a row. The last couple of games haven’t been pretty, but the Cardinals superstar is still one of the best receivers in the game. Not to mention the fact that he’s in a high-octane offense. If you can get a player like Hopkins at a discounted price, do it.

Sell — DeVante Parker

Parker returned to the elite level we saw from him earlier this year in Week 12, racking up eight catches for 119 yards. However, it looks like Tua Tagovailoa will be back under center for the Dolphins moving forward. This puts a damper on Parker’s rest-of-season prospects, as the rookie quarterback hasn’t honed in on him as his No. 1 target as Ryan Fitzpatrick does. Sell Parker with the expectation that his production will come back to earth.

Tight End

Buy — Noah Fant

Tight End has been unquestionably the most frustrating fantasy position this year, and believe it or not, Noah Fant has the chance to be one of the more consistent producers down the stretch. He caught just one ball for 13 yards last week, but the Broncos didn’t have a quarterback. That won’t be the case moving forward, as Drew Lock and company all tested negative for COVID-19. Fant has the chance to be a consistent rest-of-season producer in Denver’s offense.

Sell — Robert Tonyan

Tonyan has scored 15+ in back-to-back games, setting him up as an ideal sell-high candidate this week. Aaron Rodgers locks in on Davante Adams as his No. 1 target but generally likes to spread the ball around between his other options. Don’t expect Tonyan to maintain this production, so sell-high if you can.
