Week 8 Recap: Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens

The Pittsburgh Steelers traveled to Baltimore to take on the Ravens in Week 8 for a key divisional matchup. The Ravens defense dominated in the first half, forcing four turnovers and jumping out to a 17-7 lead. The Steelers bounced back in the second half and won the game 28-24. 

The Ravens ran for 265 yards and a touchdown, led by rookie running back J.K. Dobbins’ 113 yards on 15 carries. The Steelers were held in check on offense most of the game, however, Chase Claypool reeled in the game-winning touchdown late in the fourth.

First Half

On just the third play of the game, Pittsburgh intercepted Lamar Jackson and returned it 33 yards to take a 7-0 lead. The Ravens responded with 17 unanswered points, including touchdowns to wide receiver Miles Boykin and running back Gus Edwards. They entered the half up 17-7.

Second Half

The Steelers came out firing in the third quarter. Ben Roethlisberger found tight end Eric Ebron for an 18-yard touchdown to cut the lead to 17-14. Then after a Ravens punt, the Steelers drove down the field and regained the lead on a James Conner rushing touchdown.

Baltimore opened up the fourth quarter with a long drive ending in a Marquise Brown touchdown catch, regaining the lead 24-21. On the following possession for Pittsburgh, Roethlisberger led them down the field and found Claypool for an eight-yard touchdown catch.

The Ravens would have two more chances to regain the lead. They were stopped on fourth down in the red zone, and after forcing a Steelers three and out, Jackson was unable to hit Willie Snead in the endzone as the clock expired.

Highlights


Pittsburgh moves to 7-0, remaining the only undefeated team in the league and taking a two-game lead over the Ravens in the AFC North. They travel to Dallas next week to take on the struggling Cowboys. On the other hand, the Ravens drop to 5-2 and will look to bounce back against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8.
