3 Up, 3 Down: Fantasy Studs and Duds from Week 8

Week 8 of the NFL season included a pair of monster performances and multiple disappointing showings. Dalvin Cook and D.K. Metcalf both broke 40, while usually-elite backs like Kareem Hunt, Josh Jacobs, and Todd Gurley struggled to get anything going. Reflecting on last week’s games, whose fantasy stock increased and decreased the most?

3 Up:

Sterling Shepard – WR – 15.4 PPR Points

Since returning from injury, Shepard has reclaimed his role as the Giants’ No. 1 receiver, racking up 15+ points in back-to-back games. New York’s offense looks like it’s finally starting to come together. Shepard should play an integral role in their gameplans moving forward, assuming they’ll be playing from behind for the most part. He’s a solid WR3/FLEX option.

Zack Moss – RB – 20.1 PPR Points

Coming into the season, many believed that Moss fit Buffalo’s system better than his backfield mate, Devin Singletary. He finally started to show why in Week 8, dominating the Patriots on the ground by racking up 81 yards and two touchdowns. Moving forward, Moss could see a much larger workload than Singletary, which would do wonders for his fantasy prospects.

Corey Davis – WR – 26.8 PPR Points

Davis has been surprisingly effective, averaging 16.8 PPR points per contest. He’s now racked up two straight 15+ point games since returning from injury and hasn’t shown any indications of slowing down. Davis should be locked into future starting lineups as a strong WR2.

3 Down:

Ronald Jones – RB – 6.6 PPR Points

Rojo came out strong against the Giants, but a costly fumble resulted in him watching from the bench for most of the game. He was out-touched 18-11 by Leonard Fournette, who appears to fit the Buccaneers’ system better as a capable receiving back. It looks like Jones’ time as Tampa Bay’s starter may be over.

Amari Cooper – WR – 1.5 PPR Points

Watching the Cowboys game, it looked like someone told Ben DiNucci that Michael Gallup was Cooper. Gallup, who had been relatively ineffective leading up to this matchup, was targeted 12 times on Sunday, while Cooper received just five targets. Even with the change at quarterback this week, Cooper can’t be trusted in lineups.

Jonathan Taylor – RB 5.1 PPR Points

It was revealed that Taylor was dealing with an ankle injury heading into last week’s game, which explains his struggles. However, it definitely didn’t help that both Jordan Wilkins and Nyheim Hines exploded for 20+ points in the Colts’ win. If JT isn’t 100 percent, don’t be surprised to see Indianapolis limit his touches over the next few games.
