Week 6 of the NFL season continued the trend of massive booms and disappointing busts. Derrick Henry and Justin Jefferson exploded for 39+ points each, while star receivers like JuJu Smith-Schuster and Cooper Kupp disappointed fantasy owners. Reflecting on last week’s games, whose fantasy stock increased and decreased the most?
3 Up:
A.J. Green – WR – 17.6 PPR Points
Just when everyone believed Green was washed up, he came back from the dead and racked up eight receptions for 96 yards. After a horrendous start to the season, this was just the bounce-back performance Green needed. Don’t trust him in your starting lineups just yet, but this could end up being the turning point for his fantasy season.
Julio Jones – WR – 33.7 PPR Points
Similarly to Green, a nagging hamstring injury left many wondering if Jones’ days as an elite fantasy receiver were dwindling. He answered that question on Sunday, catching eight balls for 137 yards and two touchdowns. As long as he can stay healthy, lock Julio into lineups as a legitimate WR1 for the rest of the season.
Kenyan Drake – RB – 28.4 PPR Points
Continuing the trend of bounce-back performances, Drake finally broke out Monday night against an abysmal Cowboys defense, rushing for 164 yards and two touchdowns. In Arizona’s high-octane offense, Drake always has boom potential, and hopefully, this is the turning point for him. We should get a better idea of what his fantasy prospects will look like for the rest of the year this week against a stout Seattle run-defense.
3 Down:
JuJu Smith-Schuster – WR – 2.6 PPR Points
With Diontae Johnson (back) out last week, many expected JuJu to step into the #1 receiver role for Pittsburgh and dominate a weak Cleveland secondary. That wasn’t the case, as Smith-Schuster only caught two balls for six yards and was outperformed by Chase Claypool once again. JuJu’s fantasy stock is plummeting with no end in sight unless he can dig himself out of this hole.
Mike Evans – WR – 2.0 PPR Points
Speaking of receivers with plummeting fantasy stocks, Evans caught one ball on just two targets last week against the Packers. With Chris Godwin back in action and Rob Gronkowski potentially returning to form, Evans’ target share may be in serious danger of decreasing. Hopefully, the Buccaneers’ star can turn things around against the Raiders this week.
Antonio Gibson – RB – 9.5 PPR Points
After exploding in Week 4, Gibson has been surprisingly pedestrian ever since. The rookie is splitting touches with J.D. McKissic, which has seriously hurt his fantasy production. As long as McKissic is still in the equation, Gibson’s ceiling is severely limited.
