Dwight McGlothern’s Strengths

Very good fluidity with movement to transition and switch hips. Good read and react ability to recognize and anticipate routes. Displays a good mirroring ability off receiver breaks, putting himself in position to make a play. Good recovery speed to turn and get vertical with his opposition. Very good press-man corner due to his hand timing and punches to throw off their release or jam at the line of scrimmage. Good in run support, demonstrating the ability to tackle in space with solid technique.

Dwight McGlothern’s Weaknesses

Adequate at the catch point and susceptible to big plays due to seeking the turnover. Lacks body control at times in press coverage. Doesn’t set the boundary well in run support, looking to avoid contact. Very handsy when beat over the top vertically, drawing a lot of flags.

Summary

McGlothern is a ball-hawking corner who knows how to key on the quarterback’s eyes with good instincts and ball skills. He is a versatile player with the necessary IQ to perform in press-man, zone coverage, and the occasional off-man coverage. With that being said, his read-and-react ability, fluidity, athleticism, and speed allow him to dominate in zone coverages, where he can scan the field and shut down route combinations. Even though he can be suspect in run support at times, he would be efficient in Cover 3 and  Cover 4, in any defensive scheme.
