2024-25 NBA Schedule Quirks: Atlantic Division

NBA Jalen Brunson

The full NBA schedule was recently announced, which meant that fans immediately studied the dates of when their teams would play popular rivals. They also looked at their team’s road trips and home stands.

With so many items to watch out for, it would be easy to overlook some of the side stories.

Here’s a list of unique storylines regarding teams in the Atlantic Division.

Boston Celtics

Remember December 6 and 7. It’s back-to-back home games for Boston as they will face the Milwaukee Bucks and the Memphis Grizzlies. In other words, Boston’s Jrue Holiday will face Damian Lillard one day and battle ex-Celtic Marcus Smart one night after. We all know that Lillard replaced Holiday in Milwaukee while Holiday replaced Smart in Boston.

Brooklyn Nets

January 4 is “Lunchbox Day” and should be quite exciting for young fans in the New York area. The first 5,000 kids will have a chance to get a Brooklyn Basketball Lunchbox and will remember a day like this for a long time. The Nets and Barclays Center deserve plenty of credit for coming up with this plan.

New York Knicks

Four former Villanova Wildcats from the Knicks will play in Wells Fargo Center on November 12 and January 15. That arena is around 16 miles away from where they went to college. For Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, Josh Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo, that has to be special. Being teammates in the NCAA and the NBA is a rare occasion.

Philadelphia 76ers

For family members of the Sixers, look away. This is something you might not like. The Sixers will be on the road for Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Relatives will have to tag along if they want to be together during those holidays. The good news is that they’ll be around for Halloween, when the team will only have two home games in a seven-day span.

Toronto Raptors

In the last 30 days of the season, the Raptors will only have five home games. Two of those occur in back-to-back scenarios. At least they can take comfort in the fact that most of the teams they’ll face in that span did not make the NBA Playoffs last season.
