It is no surprise the Kansas City Chiefs have been a dominant team the last few seasons. They have won six consecutive division titles, four AFC Championships, and went to two Superbowls, winning one of them.
The schedule this season will be a difficult journey for Kansas City. In addition to the schedule, the other teams in the AFC West have also improved their competitiveness. The Chiefs have also lost several players who have previously made an impact, including Tyreek Hill and Tyrann Mathieu. However, they still have quite a few core players, so it is not the end of the line for the Chiefs just yet.
There is no doubt they will make the playoffs unless they have a catastrophic collapse. There will be growing pains, and fans will need to realize it will not be a walk in the Park.

How Things Are Looking
Patrick Mahomes now has a plethora of offensive targets to choose from. Of course, Travis Kelce will be there to do Kelce things. Also, receivers such as Marquez Valdes-Scantling and JuJu Smith-Schuster will be major targets. In addition, rookie Skyy Moore was looking good in preseason, so he might be able to step up and make some magic for the offense.
On the other side of the ball, the defense for the Chiefs has not been the most consistent. They looked their best in their Superbowl run and victory over the San Francisco 49ers; however, they have been in decline ever since. With the additions of Justin Reid and rookie George Karlaftis, there should be new life to the Chiefs’ defense.
Spicy Take #1: Mahomes Will Win MVP
Move over, Aaron Rodgers; Mahomes wants his NFL MVP Award back. He will get it by surpassing his stats from the 2018-19 season. Last season was not the greatest for Mahomes, but he is not the type of player to sit around and mope. He will be back, better than ever, and looking to reclaim what is his.
Spicy Take #2: Karlaftis Breaks the Chiefs’ Rookie Sack Record
Derrick Thomas has held the Chiefs’ record for most sacks by a rookie since 1989 when he recorded ten sacks. Though many have come close, Karlaftis will break the record. During the preseason, he had two sacks in just 56 defensive snaps. Would he be able to break the NFL record for sacks by a rookie? It is always possible. Karlaftis would have to have at least 15 to break the record set by Jevon Kearse in 1999.
Spicy Take #3: Superbowl Win
There is no doubt the Chiefs will win the AFC West. When looking at the teams who might potentially make it to the playoffs, the Chiefs have the ability to defeat them. It will only be a matter of play execution and possibly luck. Kansas City will again find themselves in the Superbowl because this is one of the best teams they have had. The Chiefs will defeat their foe and bring another Lombardi back to Kansas City. Prepare for even more strange TicToks.
