Are the Lionesses Favored to Win Women’s World Cup?by Alex Al-Kazzaz August 2, 2022 0 comments
England has just won the UEFA Women’s European Championship. To win their first national title on home soil is no doubt a huge moment for England’s Football Association. By winning the championship, the Lionesses bring a title to England for the first time since 1966 when the Men’s National Team won the World Cup.
The Lionesses had been chasing championship gold for a long time coming in the Women’s Euro. They were heavy favorites in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup but came up short. The Lionesses could not afford to come up short again considering how talented the team was. They knew that they had to win it all in front of their fans and prove that they were capable of handling pressure and winning a major title.
England can now set their sights on the World Cup title, although they are not officially qualified yet. The Lionesses will play their final two World Cup qualifying matches next month. In addition, England will face Brazil in the first-ever women’s Finalissima match.

Should the Lionesses be World Cup favorites?
The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup will be very competitive, but the Lionesses welcome tough competition with open arms. In other words, they thrive on competitive challenges. Now that they’re the Women’s European Champions, the team’s motivation and eagerness for the heavy competition are only higher.
The competition includes the likes of Australia, Germany, Japan, China, Sweden, Spain, Brazil, Canada, and the two-time defending champions, the United States. The Lionesses are determined to hoist the world title. Perhaps a rematch between England and the United States could happen. This time, there’s no doubt that England is a bigger threat to the United States than they were in the 2019 World Cup. The Lionesses would love to dethrone the United States and claim the title.
The Lionesses have a tremendous winning mentality as well as a plethora of experienced and talented players. They have earned the right to be considered favorites in next year’s Women’s World Cup.
