MLB DFS: A Wednesday Evening Stockpile

MLB DFS: A Wednesday Evening Stockpile

by June 15, 2022 0 comments

We are back for our attempt to find some DFS studs on a Wednesday evening. A heavy nine-game slate kicks off with an AL East clash featuring the Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees. The night will conclude with an NL matchup hosted by the Los Angeles Dodgers, as they test the scuffling Los Angeles Angels. I think you’ll enjoy my bold selections for tonight’s slate and I encourage you to take advantage.

On the Mound

Spencer Strider at Washington ($7,700)

The flamethrower has been a gem in the mere beginning of his career. With his distinguished mustache charm, Strider intimidates his opponents just by looks. Allowing just four runs over his past three starts, Strider’s upper 90s heat is in full effect. Additionally, three of the four runs came in his start against the Arizona Diamondbacks which he still was fortunate to put away seven batters. The Atlanta Braves are in pursuit to complete their three-game sweep of the Washington Nationals as they hand the ball to Strider.

Roansy Contreras at St. Louis ($6,900)

A top prospect out of the Pittsburgh Pirates system, Contreras has made his presence in just seven appearances. Preserving a 2.57 ERA topped by 33 strikeouts, the 22-year-old is the modern face of the Pirates pitching staff. While shaken up in his start on Friday, Contreras is bound to snap back. The start prior to Friday’s mishap, the right-hander put away the Diamondback roster in 5.2 innings of shutout ball. Let’s see how Contreras adjusts as he faces the streaking Cardinals.

In the Field

Dansby Swanson, SS ($5,100)

Many started to worry as Swanson’s slump at the plate seemed everlasting. Well, it seems that the shortstop has finally found his stroke. Boosting his average to .291 along with eight long bombs, Swanson is among the hottest hitters on the DFS market. Whacking a home run on back-to-back nights, the 28-year-old has played a major role in the Braves’ endless hot streak. On another note, the Braves will conclude their three-game set in Washington Nationals’ Park, as Swanson pursues his flourish at the plate.

William Contreras, C ($4,400)

Contreras has come to life in the 2022 season. While the 30-year-old has always been a well-rounded backstop, Contreras has been on another level. Maintaining a .280 batting average, on top of 10 home runs, the life-long Cub is making his case for an All-Sar appearance. In last night’s contest with the San Diego Padres, Contreras cranked two dingers on a three-hit night.

Matt Carpenter, 1B/3B ($4,300)

Carpenter has gone from his couch to hitting six home runs in the span of just a few weeks. The Yankees were in search of some depth and they put their faith in Carpenter. The Yankees were quite surprised by the outcome of this signing as the 36-year-old has been a stud. In Sunday’s matchup with the Chicago Cubs, the veteran plated seven runs on a three-for-four night.
