The 29-year-old joined Chelsea in the summer of 2017 after a spell with Roma. During his time at Stamford Bridge, Rudiger earned numerous accolades. With Chelsea, he helped the team reach the FA Cup three times, winning the tournament in 2018. In addition, he won the Champions League last summer along with the Europa League title in 2019. In 2021, Rüdiger won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup and is a two-time EFL Cup runner-up.

What Does Rüdiger Offer Real Madrid?

Based on the resume he built with Chelsea, Rüdiger brings plenty to the table. His leadership and playing skills will certainly help strengthen Real Madrid’s defense, and his experience is another useful quality. Los Blancos did have some issues on defense this season, so his presence certainly provides some much-needed help.

Rüdiger and Ferland Mendy have the chance of forming a dynamic defending duo. In Rüdiger’s case, after a brilliant spell with Chelsea in the English Premier League, he is ready for the next challenge of his career. He has earned the opportunity to play in LaLiga and win titles in a different league. Additionally, he can now declare that he has played in four different leagues throughout Europe. He started in the German Bundesliga league and he’s now in LaLiga after a successful stint in the English Premier League.

Rüdiger has completed all of his medical tests, and the deal is 100 percent done. However, Real Madrid will not make the official announcement until after the Champions League final.
