MLB DFS: Ice Cube’s Scorching Picks 4/22

MLB DFS: Ice Cube’s Scorching Picks 4/22

by April 22, 2022 0 comments

Okay, Cube is not here, but “Dammmnnnn” it’s FRIDAY and we’ve got plenty of picks for the 7pm MLB DFS slate. Let’s not screw around. We were on a tear with our picks, and our value players did well yesterday including Zach Davies, Eduardo Escobar, and multiple Mets. The studs fell short, unfortunately. Hopefully your lineups crushed. This column is read by some of the best in the business, so I guess we are doing something right.

I took a DFS loss on Thursday after days of raking. “We ain’t got no sugar here” was Thursday’s refrain. The aim is to get back into the win column after a day away. We have 13 games on tonight’s slate, which affords us a ton of options. As always, I’ll give you my cheap values to save some cash for your heavies. My preferred “big-boppers” will be listed after the inexpensive value plays. Ready? “What do you know about game? I got ALL the game.”

Make sure to bookmark our DFS page for our daily lineup picks.

Value on the Hill

Justin Verlander – at Houston ($10,500)

Okay, it’s not exactly value. However, you need to match up well with your opponents, Most of them will roster Verlander, and if he has a great game and not in your lineup, you’re buried before you begin. Use the 39-year-old as your pillar, and expect his 0.69 (nice) earned run average and his 0.69 (nice) WHIP to get you off to a fast start.

Zac Gallen – vs New York Mets ($6,300)

After doubling-down on Verlander, we need a quality start at an inexpensive price. Gallen fits the bill. This dude might be the future of MLB pitching, and in his last start he blanked this same Mets team over four innings. Gallen went 4-10 last season, but he should have had far more wins, if not for being on Arizona’s roster. He’s more stretched out than in his first start when he shut out New York, and pitching at home. Gallen is a must-start in every DFS roster. Expect six innings, a win, and seven or eight strikeouts (all looking).

Value in the Field

Ozzie Albies, 2B – vs Miami ($4,600)

The Atlanta infielder has appeared to regress this season at a glance. A longer look, though, shows that the hits he has in 2022 are ones that count. Albies is only hitting .218, but that cannot continue; it is only up from here. His OPS of .847 is excellent, and he has driven in nine runs and has put five balls over the fence. This early in the season, he is boom/bust. But the ‘boom’ is worth gambling on the price.

Alec Bohm, 3B – vs Milwaukee ($3,700)

One of my favorite inexpensive DFS plays from 2021 where he garnered 130 total bases, Bohm is on fire to begin the season. Opposing pitchers navigate the top half of the Philadelphia lineup and then let their guard down in the bottom half. Bohm has consistently been in that part of the lineup and has made hurlers pay. He’s batting .476 with an astounding 1.197 OPS thus far in 2022. For under $4k, the risk/reward value is off the charts.

Austin Meadows – vs Colorado ($4,200)

As long as this guy keeps batting in the top three of the lineup, he’s an easy play in DFS. Meadows is likely to continue getting five at-bats per night, which does nothing more than offer more opportunities to cash in. He comes in carrying a .305/.419/.309 triple-slash (that’s an .807 OPS, math geniuses). While Meadows is unlikely to supply fireworks, he should get on base several times against Antonio Senzatela, who has started the season well but has a career ERA pushing 5.00.

Stud Finder: Sean Murphy (C – OAK), Ty France (1B – SEA), Carlos Correa (SS – MIN), Shohei Ohtani (OF – LAA), Aaron Judge (OF – NYY)

“For most people, Friday’s just the day before the weekend. But after this Friday, the neighborhood’ll never be the same.” Let’s make some money with inspiration from Craig aka Cube. Good luck assembling your lineups and let’s see some winning screenshots. Bye, Felicia.
