Aqeel Glass stood out in the National Football Players Association Collegiate Bowl, and in a weak 2022 quarterback class he is rising up boards. He came into college as a two-star quarterback with three college offers and impressed at Alabama A&M. Glass threw for 3,568 yards and 36 touchdowns in his redshirt senior season, winning the Southwestern Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year. He looks to represent Alabama A&M and other historically black colleges and universities as he moves on to the next chapter in his career.

Player Breakdown
Arm Talent (13.5/15)
Glass has a good arm with enough strength to make throws outside of the numbers and down the field without issue. When needed, he can make throws over the middle with some zip. He showed off his arm in multiple college games with spectacular and accurate passes downfield.
Accuracy (10/15)
Throughout college, Glass made tremendous throws flashing his talent, but was not always consistent. His deep ball can be excellent, but he is not always accurate when throwing it. Glass’ ball placement is inconsistent as he sometimes throws a perfectly placed ball, but others give the opposing defender a chance to make a play.
Decision Making (14/15)
Decision-making is a strength. The Alabama A&M product makes good decisions most of the time, while reducing mistakes. Glass makes a few poor throws every now and then, but usually he makes a throw he looks confident in to ensure success. When he makes a poor read it is not typically costly, leading only to an incompletion rather than a turnover.
Progressions (9.25/10)
Glass has improved on reading through his progressions throughout college. He has a good idea of what is going on before the play and does a good job of moving to his next option after the snap if his first choice is covered. Glass’ ability to read defensive backs well helps him while progressing through reads.
Pocket Awareness (9.25/10)
Awareness in the pocket is another outstanding trait. Since he is not extremely mobile, if he senses the pocket breaking down he will have to adjust earlier, and that is exactly what he does. Glass is good at stepping up and shrugging off defenders (credit to his physical profile) or moving to the side (usually to the right) as he senses pressure to make an accurate throw.
Anticipation/Touch (7.5/10)
Glass’ touch is inconsistent, but there are a lot of throws he makes that flash good touch and anticipation. He is good at reading opposing defenses and can anticipate what a defender is going to do well. Glass needs to work on consistency, as some throws he makes are not well placed, but he can thread the ball as well.
Out of Structure (7.25/10)
The ideal circumstance for Glass is for him to not be pushed out of the pocket as he has excellent presence and a strong arm when he can step into a throw. However, he has shown the ability to adapt when a play breaks down. On the run, he has made several accurate throws but is not consistent in that area. Glass is not a big scrambler, but he should not be mistaken for being slow or unathletic.
Mobility (6.5/10)
For his size, Glass is pretty mobile. Though he is more comfortable in the pocket, he has displayed his ability to move outside and make adequate throws. If needed to move, he can, but was better when throwing inside the pocket because it maximizes his arm talent. When he is pressured, his mechanics suffer as he will occasionally throw off his back foot.
Mechanics (2/5)
Mechanics are a tough knock on Glass. While he possesses a strong arm and a big frame, his abilities are not maximized because of his mechanics. His lower body was an issue as he was not always consistent with his plant foot. Glass throws off his back leg sometimes, which does not allow him to get enough zip on the ball.
Player Summary
Glass is an intriguing prospect because of his physical profile. The Alabama A&M product stands tall at 6’4” and has a strong arm. Although his hands are not big, they did not seem to cause many problems at the college level. While inconsistent, he flashed elite ability with tight-window throws and great decision-making. He will likely be a backup at the next level, but Glass offers upside that could interest teams.
