2022 Bold Predictions: San Francisco 49ers

49ers

The San Francisco 49ers are looking to transition from Jimmy Garoppolo to getting Trey Lance the starring job. However, he will be a first-time starter which could pose some problems for the team. At the same time, he did sit for most of the season, so he should have absorbed a ton of knowledge. While he does have a ton of talent and a fantastic supporting cast, he does have an easy transition ahead of him. At the same time, he will have a few shaky games during the season. Furthermore, if Lance can be the player the 49ers hope he can be, then winning ten games isn’t impossible. The Niners can easily win ten-plus games with Lance being the quarterback.

Tyrion Davis-Price Becomes the Primary Back

Coming in at 6’1″ 232 lbs, Davis-Price is a whole unit. While he might be the backup for the first few weeks as Elijah Mitchell is the starter. However, once Davis-Price gets his feet under him, he will take the job from Mitchell. At the same time, Trey Sermon is already in Kyle Shanahan‘s doghouse and likely the fourth-string back. With Jeff Wilson Jr. cemented as the third-string back, it opens the door for Davis-Price to take the starting spot.

The 49ers Win 12 games

Lance being a better player than Garoppolo, could give this team new optimism. While he can be the best for the franchise in this decade, it will come with a few bumps. However, even if Lance has a few games where he struggles, the team around him is excellent and can lift him. At the same time, he needs to have a better season than jimmy would for the team to win many games. With the erratic play of Garoppolo, he cost his team points and games. Furthermore, with Garoppolo being a game manager, Lance has to be better than a game manager to win a lot of fun.

Nick Bosa has a Career Year

The Niners have decided not to extend him this offseason and to wait till next year. This could go one of two ways for the team. The first is that Bosa gets hurt again, and the team can sign him to a low-end contract. The second is that Bosa has his best season yet, forcing the Niners to give him considerable contact. The second option is what most people believe to be true. If Bosa can be the force he was drafted to be, However, if Bosa can get back to what he can be, the Niner’s defense will be dominant.

Jimmy Garoppolo Remains on the Team

With Garoppolo being almost impossible to trade due to his contract and his injury that needs rehabbing, he could still be on the roster come opening day. At the same time, having Garoppolo on the roster behind Lance could cause the season to implode. If Lance struggles during the first few weeks, the fans could start clamoring for Garoppolo to start. With Lance being a sophomore player having his first time starting in the NFL, having the guy you are replacing behind you could play with his mind. Furthermore, the team will have to cut Garoppolo before the first game if Lance is at his best. At the same time, the team could see Garoppolo as the best backup in the league and a safety blanket for the team in case Lance struggles.
