Week 17 Fantasy Football Bustsby Kamran Nia December 31, 2021 0 comments
Choosing the players who will succeed and benching the ones who will not is essential to winning in fantasy football. Each week, fantasy owners will have to make the tough decision to put a player they like on the bench because the truth is that player is a bust. The willingness to do so is what separates good managers from bad ones. Let’s take a look at five players who could bust in Week 17.
Taysom Hill – QB, New Orleans Saints (vs CAR)
Hill has been respectable in games he has started this season, but may not perform well this week. The Saints are facing the Carolina Panthers who have been excellent on defense. They have allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks up to this point. If the Saints’ offensive struggles continue, Hill could bust for many fantasy owners.
Sony Michel – RB, Los Angeles Rams (vs BAL)
Michel has been outstanding over the past few weeks taking a majority of the workload in Los Angeles. However, even if he receives increased touches with Henderson out, he may not perform well for fantasy purposes this week. The Baltimore Ravens have been excellent against the run this year, notably holding Nick Chubb to two single-digit games. Although Joe Mixon was successful against the Ravens last week they have been good for a majority of the year and Michel may struggle this week.
Josh Jacobs – RB, Las Vegas Raiders (vs IND)
Jacobs has been a solid running back for fantasy owners so far this season. The third-year back is averaging 14.3 fantasy points per game and received 27 carries last week. However, he enters Week 17 against a challenging opponent. The Indianapolis Colts defense has been terrific and is holding running backs they have faced to the sixth least fantasy points per game. The Colts are also hot coming into the matchup on a three-game win streak which means the Raiders could fall behind early. If so, they may have to shy away from the run and Jacobs will not be able to produce for fantasy purposes.
Tyler Boyd – WR, Cincinnati Bengals (vs KC)
Boyd had an excellent game last week scoring 17.5 fantasy points and has put up double-digit fantasy totals in five of his last six matchups. However, he has been very inconsistent throughout the season. With a tough matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs who have been good against the pass, Boyd may have trouble producing in Week 17.
Kyle Pitts – TE, Atlanta Falcons (vs BUF)
Pitts has been underwhelming this season and his lack of fantasy production may continue this week. The rookie tight end is averaging 11.0 fantasy points per game, which is good, but not excellent as many fantasy experts projected. The most unimpressive stat is Pitts has only found the end zone once this year. With the Falcons struggling to find him to score touchdowns, his volume has not been impressive enough to be started against the Buffalo Bills who have been effective against tight ends.
