Daily Dollars: NBA, MLB, NHL Bets for 6/23, 8pmby Sam Schneider June 23, 2021 0 comments
Welcome back, professional bettors and gambling degenerates. It’s Hump Day, and I can think of no better way to celebrate Wednesday than with a quartet of bets on all three major sports starting at 8pm. Tonight, we have playoff action in both the NBA and NHL, and extremely winnable affairs in MLB taking place in Arlington and San Diego. Let’s get right to the action and see if we can’t muster up a 4-0 night and build some more capital for the rest of the week.
MLB: Oakland Athletics -1.5 (-110) at Texas Rangers, 8:05 p.m. EDT
The Rangers low-octane offense runs into righty James Kaprielian tonight, who is 2-0 in his last two starts with a sub-3.00 ERA. After having some trouble putting up runs in the Yankees series, the A’s jumped all over the Rangers last night to the tune of 13 runs. Tonight they’ll do it again, facing Mike Foltynewicz (1-7, 5.59 ERA). The money line is a safe bet at -155, but we’re getting greedy and taking the run line in a cakewalk.
Book it: Oakland A’s -1.5 runs (-110)
NHL: Tampa Bay Lightning at NY Islanders o5 (-140), 8:00 p.m. EDT, NBCSN
Tampa Bay leads the series 3-2 and are looking to close the Islanders out. The over is 7-3-2 in New York’s last 12 games overall. After putting up an eight-spot in Game 5, the Lightning have now scored 17 goals and smell blood in the water. Brayden Point and the offense had it all working in that 8-0 drubbing and seem to have found a groove. The Islanders will find ways to score with their backs against the wall and the total hits the seven-goal mark in what should be a very fast-paced, entertaining game.
Book it: Lightning/Islanders over 5 goals (-140)
NBA: Atlanta Hawks +8 (-110) at Milwaukee Bucks, 8:30 p.m. EDT, TNT
The narrative being exclaimed in most circles is how Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks are going to dismantle the Hawks in this series. Well, they’re right. However, the way Trae Young is playing and the Hawks proficiency on the road (5-2, including three in Philadelphia) makes for an intriguing game. There is no doubt that Milwaukee will come out hoping to make a statement. With that said, eight points is too much.
Atlanta is beating the spread 4-1 on the road in their last five. 10-4 ATS in their last 14, and a whopping 12-3 ATS in their last 15 games in Milwaukee. Numbers do not lie. Milwaukee has been notorious for tripping in the playoffs and coming out flat in the past, and this will be no different. Atlanta slows the game down to keep it close. It won’t work for the win, but it’ll keep them well within striking distance.
Book it: Atlanta Hawks +8 (-110)
MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres o7.5 (-105), 10:10 p.m. EDT, ESPN
Your bonus bet for the day comes from the National League West, where Trevor Bauer toes the rubber against Joe Musgrove in San Diego. Bauer had two quality starts against the Padres earlier this season and is holding opponents to a .170 batting average on the season. However, the Padres bats woke up in a big way against Cincinnati after being dormant for a time.
Fernando Tatis Jr. (two homers in six ABs) and Manny Machado (.588 with two homers in 17 ABs) both perform well against Bauer. On the other side, Joe Musgrove has never beaten the Dodgers and has a 5.03 ERA against the franchise. He has a tough time with left-handed bats, and the Dodgers have them. What looks like a pitching duel on paper could turn into a slugfest around the fourth inning.
Book it: Dodgers/Padres over 7.5 runs (-105)
Best of luck with all your gambling adventures this evening. We’ve got some big games and opportunities for watching the action on TV while we are making money.
