Sunday Showdown for MLB DFS

Sunday Showdown for MLB DFS

Tonight the St. Louis Cardinals will battle the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. Let’s take a look at who we can get in our lineups and definitely get some value in our Sunday Showdown.

A quick note on this game and my plays. The teams are familiar with both starters and neither Zach Davies nor Carlos Martinez give us much strikeout upside. I wouldn’t suggest either pitcher tonight.

***All Prices Are DraftKings***

Captain: Sergio Alcantara – $7,200 ($4,800 Util Price)

When the pitchers in the contest don’t move the needle for me, I tend to go with the cheapest player at the Captain spot to be able to afford a few studs later. Alcantara is starting tonight in Javier Baez‘s place. In just 23 games, the 24-year-old has a solid .911 OPS. He is definitely worth the money you will be saving.

Utility Spend: Anthony Rizzo – $10,200

His last three hits have gone for extra bases (two HRs, a double). Over his career, the Chicago first baseman has .908 OPS at Wrigley and an .883 OPS against righties. He also has a .922 OPS versus Carlos Martinez who has been awful recently. Take Rizzo tonight at home against a right-hander who he has faced many times before.

Utility Value: Matt Carpenter – $6,600

We are saving money here with a guy who has hits in six of his last eight games including three doubles and seven RBIs. He also absolutely owns Davies. Carpenter is slashing .480/.567/1.000 against the Cubs right-hander in his career. He has also always hit righties better with a career .847 against them. There is no reason to spend too much here.

Many of the Cubs players are expensive tonight, while the Cardinals hitters are fairly cheap. I would suggest stacking Eric Sogard ($6,200) with Alcantara. Another mini-stack for you if St. Louis is the route you go is Tommy Edman ($7,800), Dylan Carlson ($6,400), and Paul Goldschmidt ($7,400). They will only cost you $21,600 between the three of them and they hit at the top of the lineup.

Good Luck everyone.
