Full Friday for MLB DFSby John Lepore May 21, 2021 0 comments
We have a full Friday as there are 15 games on the slate starting at 7 pm ET. With a massive amount of players to choose from, we will hit on our values to afford the studs tonight. Enjoy the beautiful weekend and start it off right with some cash. Let’s get to it.
You can check out our past DFS plays from multiple sports to see how we are doing here.
***All Prices Are DraftKings***
On the Bump
Adrian Houser – $7,900 – at Cincinnati Reds
This will be the first time the division rivals will face each other this season. Houser couldn’t find the strike zone last time out but looked great striking out 10 in his previous outing. The Reds are coming off of a four-game sweep at the hands of the San Francisco Giants. Cincinnati scored just nine runs in those four games and also struck out 44 times.
Kyle Gibson – $7,100 – vs. Houston Astros
The big Texas righty has eight straight quality starts since the opening day debacle. While he doesn’t give us great strikeout upside (44 in 54.1 IP), Gibson gives us a solid floor. That is big in cash games so get him in your lineups and you can pay up for a five-figure pitcher in your other slot on DraftKings.
James Kaprielian – $6,100 – at Los Angeles Angels
Oakland’s right-hander made his first major league start last week and pitched well against the solid Red Sox lineup giving up just one run in five innings and striking out six. He will be looking to follow that up tonight against a Trout-less Angels squad. This is more of a GPP play as we are not sure about Keprielian, but without Trout and possibly Ohtani for tonight’s game, get the former first-round pick in a couple of tournaments.
On the Dirt
Yandy Diaz – 1B – $3,400
Here is an easy cash-game play. Diaz offers a solid floor as he is 12-29 (.414) on his current seven-game hitting streak. He also sees lefties well with a .418 OBP against them this season. Yandy faces southpaw Anthony Kay tonight who has allowed 24 baserunners out of the 62 batters he has faced. You can count on Diaz for some points.
Nick Madrigal – 2B – $2,900
While I’m not expecting the ridiculous 30-point output of the other night, Madrigal offers a great floor. He gets to face lefty Jordan Montgomery tonight in Yankee Stadium. New York’s southpaw is allowing an .835 OPS to right-handed hitters this season and all six of the HRs he’s surrendered have come from righties.
Jonathan Villar – 3B – $3,500
Two straight games with a bomb and a hit in seven of his last eight has gotten Villar some attention. He can score points even when he isn’t hitting dingers and in the past two games he has also batted leadoff for the New York Mets. Take advantage of the price and the power-speed combo to deliver some DK points.
On the Grass
Andrew Benintendi – $3,600
Benny struggled in the beginning of the season. Since the calendar turned to May, the Royals’ outfielder has hit .333 with a couple of taters and a swipe. He is slated to bat third tonight against a mediocre Jose Urena who he is 2-for-5 against in his career.
Alex Kirilloff – $3,400
The Twins’ outfielder/first baseman is making his return tonight after a couple of weeks on the IL. He had a seven-game hitting streak before his injury and gets to face the league leader in walks, Triston McKenzie. This is likely a GPP play and he will be lightly owned considering he hasn’t played since May 3rd. Get him in there and he will pick up where he left off.
