MLB DFS: Markdown Mondayby John Lepore April 19, 2021 0 comments
As we head into another week of baseball, things are starting to take shape a little. Tonight we have a solid six-game slate starting at 7:05 pm ET. Of course, we have our high-priced studs in action such as Mike Trout, Mookie Betts, and Juan Soto. We also have a trio of $9,000+ arms in Joe Musgrove, Dustin May, and Brandon Woodruff. They are all viable if you can afford to get them in your lineup. Tonight though we are going to look at the markdown players to play so you can pay up for a couple of those big boys. Let’s get to it in MLB DFS.
***All Prices are DraftKings***
Dylan Bundy $7,700 vs. Texas Rangers
Although Bundy has yet to log his first win of 2021, he has been excellent. The Los Angeles Angels righty has a quality start in each of his first three games and a solid 22/5 K/BB rate in 19 innings pitched. Tonight he faces the Rangers who have struck out more (168) than any other team in the majors. They are also tied for last in OPS at .642. This is a great matchup for Bundy as the Angels look to bury their AL West opponent.
Danny Duffy $7,000 vs. Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays get up to play the New York Yankees. They are 5-1 against the Bronx Bombers and have scored 36 runs in six games. In their other 10 contests? They are 3-7 and have scored only 32 runs. Just coming off a sweep of their division rivals, the Rays are due for a letdown. Duffy has been very good this year in his two starts, winning both and putting up over 22 DK points in each. Also, the team that is next to the Rangers with the second-most Ks this year? The Rays.
David Fletcher 2B $3,700
The Angels leadoff hitter has been heating up. He is on a five-game hitting streak and is 7-for-23 in that span. While Fletcher doesn’t kill the ball, he does score runs. As the catalyst batting in front of Shohei Ohtani and Trout, Fletcher has crossed the plate nine times and the Angels have scored 43 runs in seven home games this season. The price is good and the floor is solid. He should be played especially in cash games.
Brandon Belt 1B $3,400
The San Francisco Giants’ first baseman is three for his last eight and all three hits have been for extra bases (two doubles and a HR). Belt also is walking at a 15 percent pace this season. The pitcher he faces tonight, Chase Anderson, has walked five in nine innings and given up two bombs. Save some salary here and take the floor and potential for a homer.
Dylan Carlson OF $3,400
The young Rookie of the Year candidate is six for his last 14 with three walks and only three Ks. He is seeing the ball well and is batting fifth tonight behind the red-hot Yadier Molina. The last time the St. Louis Cardinals faced Joe Ross they couldn’t muster a run. Carlson wasn’t in that lineup though (he walked in a pinch-hit appearance) and this time around Ross will come back to earth. Make him your cheap outfielder and spend up for the big guns.
Good Luck Everyone.
