The 2020-2021 UEFA Champions League is down to eight clubs. The draw took place on the 19th and the matches are set. Paris Saint-Germain takes on Bayern Munich in a rematch from last season’s final. Manchester City takes on Borussia Dortmund while Chelsea squares off against Porto. And finally, Real Madrid takes on Liverpool in a rematch from the final in 2018.

Real Madrid managed to avoid elimination in the Round of 16 for a third consecutive time. Los Blancos eliminated Atalanta convincingly and are determined to be worthy contenders for the title. Real Madrid will certainly have their work cut for them in this round against the Reds.

Los Blancos’ chances are 50-50. Liverpool is not doing very well in Premier League play. They’ve won only three games in their last ten EPL matches. In addition, Liverpool has not won an EPL home game since December 16 of last year. Regardless, Liverpool has managed to excel so far in the knockout stage of the Champions League. That means Real Madrid can’t take Liverpool lightly. However, the same thing goes for Liverpool. Both clubs simply cannot underestimate each other.

Liverpool is hoping to find a way to climb up the EPL standings in hopes of securing a place in either the Europa League or the Champions League for next season. On the other hand, Real Madrid is fighting to retain their La Liga title. Both clubs have a lot at stake, so they’ll need as much momentum as they can get going into the Champions League quarterfinals.

Liverpool and Real Madrid are in a situation that goes either way. In other words, both clubs are perfectly capable of upsetting each other. ESPN has Liverpool advancing to the final four. In Real Madrid’s case, as the underdogs, it’s up to them to overcome the odds and prove the critics wrong.
