Is Las Vegas ready for some football?

The Raiders’ first season in Sin City, like many teams, was played without fans in the seats. Allegiant Stadium did look amazing on television. The team went 8-8, and their biggest accomplishment was defeating their rival, the Kansas City Chiefs, in one of their two matchups.

Once and for all: is Carr the right guy for Gruden?

It finally looks like Derek Carr is head coach Jon Gruden’s guy, which has been up for debate since Gruden’s return to coaching. Carr threw for over 4,100 yards and posted 27 touchdowns against just nine interceptions. Silver and black fans held a collective breath when Carr on a scramble pulled up lame with a groin injury, which appeared to be serious. But the starting quarterback was back under center the following week.

Marcus Mariota, who was signed in the offseason, only got quality snaps in the game in which Carr was injured. Although in a losing effort, the Heisman Trophy winner proved he can still command an offense. He ended the game with a total of 300 yards combined, passing and rushing, and he recorded both a passing and rushing touchdown. If nothing else, he proved he deserves a second look from teams around the league. After this season, it likely won’t be in Vegas.

Can Josh Jacobs avoid a sophomore slump?

Jacobs avoided a sophomore slump and then some. The Las Vegas running back eclipsed the 1,000 yards rushing mark for the second time in as many seasons. He scored 12 touchdowns on the ground and added over 200 yards receiving. Jacobs earned his first Pro Bowl selection.
