Heller Answers His 3 Burning Questions: Arizona Cardinalsby Joe Heller March 8, 2021 1 comment
Prior to the 2020 NFL season, three questions were posed for each of the 32 teams. This is the recap and answers to those questions for the Arizona Cardinals.
If you want to look back at the previous article you can do that here.
Who will make a bigger impact: Drake or Hopkins?
DeAndre Hopkins made a statement in his first season in Arizona. He accounted for over 1,400 yards receiving and six touchdowns. But his presence and defenses were forced to double-team him, allowing the Cardinals’ other receivers to have success. Receivers Christian Kirk, Andy Isabella, and Larry Fitzgerald along with tight end Dan Arnold combined for almost 1,700 yards receiving and 13 touchdowns.
Kenyan Drake meanwhile, compiled just under 1,100 yards from scrimmage and talked 10 touchdowns in his first season as the main back in Arizona.
What will the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year do for an encore?
The reigning rookie of the year Kyler Murray threw for 3,971 yards and 26 touchdowns. He added 819 yards on the ground and 11 touchdowns as well. Other than finishing with a record of 8-8, which isn’t a direct result of his season, there was no sophomore jinx for Murray. With the exception of Larry Fitzgerald, who announced his retirement, the core players at the skill positions will likely remain intact, so Murray will continue to excel next season.
Who will be the X factor on the defensive side of the ball?
Budda Baker led the team defensively. His season tackles totaled 118. He also recorded a pair of interceptions. He was selected to his third Pro Bowl in just his fourth season.
