With the free agency rush officially slowing down, it’s now time to look back and update our views and predictions with the 2021 NFL power rankings based on what happened earlier this month.
Of course, the free agency mainly won’t impact the power rankings as much as the official NFL draft; it can still have the potential of turning games upside down. So while we have just gotten done with the 2021 NFL draft, and before it can change the power ranking of the teams, let’s have a look at our current power rankings!
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The champs are back! And when we say champs, we mean that Chris Godwin, Rob Gronkowski, Lavonte David, and Shaq Barrett are back in Tampa with new deals, along with Tom Brady allowing for a one-year extension of his contract with the franchise.
If you think this is a bad idea and they won’t be able to make it as they did, Bruce Arians and Jason Licht would disagree. The franchise is nothing short of spectacular with their decisions last year, and this is one way to hype it up further. But until further notice, the Lombardi trophy is in the possession of Brady. Kansas City Chiefs
The long-running starting offensive tackles of the Chiefs have been superb throughout the years. However, with two coming out of surgery, there are many factors to be considered for them this year. However, the good news for their fans was that they just cleared an $18 million cap to acquire some massive help for the team, especially to their offensive line.
But this would even be greater if the Chiefs acquired a left tackle like Trent Williams during the free agency. Nevertheless, even with the odds against them, they still have a lot to look out for during the 2021 NFL draft.
Green Bay Packers
Probably the best move the Packers made so far is to keep Aaron Jones on the team. This is especially true when the Packers didn’t put a tag on their running back, which is not good if they want to keep him. The two sides, in fact, made a done deal to make the Packers’ offense stay on an elite level.
This is not a time to strip away some of Aaron Rodgers’ weapons, as he needs all the help he can get. If the team can keep supplying the 37-year-old MVP, then the NFC is not a long-lost dream for the team. But of course, this might change during the 2021 NFL draft that’s just been finished.
Buffalo Bills
In 2020, the Bills showed some potential of dethroning the Kansas City Chiefs during the postseason. But now, they have more than a chance because Matt Milano is back on the team as a long-time member of their defensive core, along with Emmanuel Sanders and Stefon Diggs. This makes them a legitimate threat to other teams.
Baltimore Ravens
It’s pretty apparent that Lamar Jackson needs more help. He was about to get it too, but the Ravens failed to take the opportunity to swipe up Juju Smith-Schuster from the Steelers because they didn’t produce a contract to keep Juju away from the Steelers on a one year deal worth $8 million.
However, recently, the Ravens had a meeting with Sammy Watkins, who has had an enigmatic career, as some would say. But still, Watkins is a sure upgrade from Marquise Brown as some experts see it. However, the real question is how free-agent receivers would feel joining a team with only 406 throws back in 2020.
New Orleans Saints
Drew Brees has officially left the Saints, and it’s going to be a lot different without him on the team. Now that he’s left the team, probably the biggest question and concern is who will be able to replace him? Apparently, there are two sides to this debate: Winston and Hill.
Last season when Brees was injured, Sean Payton opted for Hill since he felt that he was a better choice. With that said, the Saints would still be most likely competitive this season.
Cleveland Browns
Safety was a concern for the Cleveland Browns last season. However, they addressed that concern by snagging the top safety in the free-agent market by signing up John Johnson III for a luxurious deal worth $33.75 million with $24 million guaranteed.
With Johnson’s athleticism and physicality, he will be a great addition to the team’s defense. Johnson is also a type of leader who constantly tries to stabilize the secondary, which will soon become a great strength.

With the free-agent rush basically done at this point, many tough decisions had to be made with the new free agents signing onto their respective teams. Now that that is over, people were looking towards the 2021 NFL Draft, making the season more interesting. With a lot more great college players looking to be pros, there will be a lot of suspense and thrills for this upcoming season not just for the fans but for the bettors as well.
