Prime Time Sports Talk’s NFL staff came together to share their picks for Super Bowl LVI between the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams. These 10 writers’ picks and explanations can be found below.
In addition to these picks for the big game, staff members Sam Schneider, Joe Heller, and Andersen Pickard made their picks for the entire season. Their win-loss records are listed at the bottom of the article. An archive of all 18 regular-season and four playoff editions can be found here.
Ryan Moran: Rams over Bengals
The Bengals have defied every odd to make it to the final game. In this one, though, the Rams’ talented defensive line will make the difference against the Bengals’ offensive line.
Kamran Nia: Rams over Bengals
The Bengals’ Cinderella run will come to an end on Sunday. The Rams’ defensive line will control the game and limit Cincinnati’s offense en route to victory.
Alex Barbour: Rams over Bengals
The battle in the trenches will be won by the Rams outright. Superstars, no matter their age, always have it in them to reignite their prime and be their best selves. Whether it is Von Miller, Aaron Donald, or Jalen Ramsey, a big play will be made that changes the course of this game.
Mike Fanelli: Rams over Bengals
Both teams have been on impressive runs during the playoffs. However, the Rams have been here before while the Bengals are the new kids on the block. Betting against Joe Burrow feels risky, but the Rams have made every move possible this year to win this game. It will be a close one, but the Rams come away with the victory.
Alex Kielar: Rams over Bengals
This season has been miraculous for Joe Burrow and the Bengals, but they won’t get the classic storybook ending in this one as the Rams’ defense proves too much. Give me Los Angeles, 27-17.
Mason Thompson: Rams over Bengals
This game will be close. The Rams have the experience, which will likely come in handy. However, the real question pertains to how the Bengals’ offensive line will hold up. Spoiler: I don’t think it will. Rams win, 27-21.
Charlie Parent: Rams over Bengals
This game may be a lot more defensive than most think and it could come down to the battle in the trenches, where the Rams are obviously favored. Overall, Los Angeles’ talent might just be too much for Cincinnati to handle, but the game will be close throughout.
Andersen Pickard: Bengals over Rams
The Bengals are surging and have clearly been the best team in football over the last couple of months. The Rams are a solid team (they made the Super Bowl, after all), but I don’t think their defense can handle Cincinnati’s fast-paced offensive attack. Similarly, the Rams have a plethora of playmakers on offense, but can they dig themselves out of an early deficit?
Beth Sullivan: Rams over Bengals
This was a tough question, but I flipped a coin and the Rams won five out of seven times. I think this will be a balanced and entertaining game either way.
Rephael Negnewitzky: Rams over Bengals
Both teams are young and talented. However, Burrow and the Bengals are inexperienced in the playoffs. While Matthew Stafford himself hasn’t seen the playoffs much, his fellow teammates can show him the ropes. The Bengals have had a shocking run in the playoffs, but I think it will come to an end on Sunday.
Records
Sam: 159-109 (59.3%)
Joe: 101-79 (56.1%)
Andersen: 171-113 (60.2%)
