Defense (24.5/30)

Williams has a good motor who can press up the court well. He is good at anticipating passes and deflecting or stealing them. Has a lengthy wingspan and is agile, allowing him to stay in front of his man. Williams lacks some strength which hurts him on defense, but overall is a solid defender.

Finishing (5/10)

A solid finisher around the basket, but he often settles for mid-range pull-ups or threes. He uses his length well and can dunk the ball with power. Williams’ lacking strength causes him to struggle at contested layups. Overall, he is a good finisher, but his lack of confidence driving to the rim hurts him.

Perimeter Shooting (6/10)

Williams is a better shooter than his numbers suggest. He can knock down shots from anywhere on the court but struggled with consistency at Stanford. He shot 29.1 percent from behind the arc, which proved to be costly to his playing time and draft stock.

Ball Handling (3/10)

Williams did not do a great job of driving past defenders by using his handles. He often settled for mid-range pull-ups instead of driving due to his lack of ability to get past defenders.

Passing (3/10)

The forward is poor at creating for others. He sought his own shot more often than others, but is solid in pick-and-roll situations. Williams averaged 2.2 assists and 2.9 turnovers per game at Stanford.

Rebounding (8.5/10)

A good rebounder who does a solid job of using his length to make up for his lack of strength to grab boards. Williams grabbed 4.6 rebounds per game in his freshman season.

Athleticism (9/10)

Williams is athletic. He has great lateral quickness which helps him on defense. Williams lacks strength, but overall, he is an athletic player.

Injury (6/10)

Williams missed some games in college and high school due to injury. He played in 21 of Stanford’s 32 games during the 2020-21 season.

Bonus: Potential (+4/5)

Williams has good potential due to his length and athleticism, however, he has not yet put the pieces together. He struggled with consistency, but he still has a high ceiling.

Player Summary

Williams has great length and athleticism as a forward which makes him a high-upside prospect. He struggled with shooting at Stanford which caused his stock to fall, but if he can improve his consistency from beyond the arc and become stronger, he has a high ceiling.

Final Grade (69/100): Late First/Early Second Round Pick
