Monday Night DFS: Week 9by Brandon Braasch November 9, 2020 0 comments
This Monday night matchup seems like a game that would be played on Thursday night. The two-win New England Patriots face the winless New York Jets.
The Jets were actually fairly competitive early in the game against the Kansas City Chiefs last week. However, that was with Sam Darnold at quarterback. To make things worse for the Jets they will be without Darnold this week due to more complications with his shoulder. That means former super bowl MVP Joe Flacco will be back in at quarterback. This very well could be the ugliest Monday night game of the season. Let’s take a look at the best players for this game.
Jamison Crowder ($16,800 DK Captain | FD $14,000)
Crowder is questionable because of a groin injury but it’s looking like he will be good to go. He will be a great play as your DraftKings Captain because the scoring is PPR. Crowder and Flacco have played in two games together this season. In those games, Crowder has been targeted 23 times. He was able to turn those into 15 receptions for 164 yards and one touchdown. If the game script goes like many will expect then the Jets should be playing from behind and Flacco will be forced to throw all game. Look for Crowder to be peppered with targets all game and be able to turn those into a productive fantasy game.
Cam Newton (DK $13,200 | FD $17,000)
Cam has struggled with turnovers this season. He has not been the same since he tested positive for COVID. He has yet to throw a touchdown since his return and has not thrown for more than 174 yards since Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks. The good news for Newton is he gets a solid matchup against the Jets defense. They have, however, forced 10 turnovers on the season but they allow 282.8 passing yards per game which is bottom five in the league. They have also allowed four different quarterbacks to throw for 300 or more yards. Look for Newton to have one of his best games of the season tonight.
Jakobi Meyers (DK $9,000 | FD $11,000)
Julian Edelman and N’Keal Harry will once again be out this week. That will make Meyers, the second-year undrafted free agent from N.C. State, the Patriots number one receiver again this week. Last week against the Buffalo Bills he saw 10 targets. He was able to bring in six of those for 58 yards. Meyers will have a high volume of snaps and targets again in this game. He should be able to find some room against this Jets secondary that gave up four touchdowns to receivers last week. Look for Meyers to see plenty of targets and potentially get the first touchdown of his career.
Ryan Izzo (DK $1,400 | FD $5,500)
Izzo was the only tight end to see snaps last week for the Patriots. Dalton Keene did not travel with the team again this week so, he will likely be out this week. Izzo has not scored a touchdown this season but he gets a good matchup to get his first touchdown of the season this week. The Jets defense has given up a total of six touchdowns in eight games to tight ends this season. Look for Newton to get his tight end involved in this game and for Izzo to get his first score or the season.
