Why the New York Knicks should NOT trade for these players.by Josh Livi October 21, 2020 0 comments
Oh boy. The saga involving the Knicks doesn’t end, and the front office is proving to be more and more incompetent in running a franchise. Let alone the biggest one in New York.
The Knicks are in talks with former, (long time ago) superstar, Chris Paul. A rumor has surfaced that they want to offer Frank Ntilikina, Kevin Knox, and possibly MULTIPLE first-rounders for CP3. That can be the worst move this organization has done since trading away several picks for busy-pick Eddy Curry. The Knicks are going nowhere anytime soon. There is absolutely nothing wrong with giving young guys ALL the run they can handle this season and letting them develop. The Knicks front office has to know, if they do acquire CP3, it’ll crush the development and confidence of up and hopefully developing players such as, Dameayan Dotson and possibly even R.J Barrett. The Knicks finally have a young team. Sorta.
The Knicks don’t need to go out and spend multiple draft picks on a washed-up CP3 when we have multiple guards, who are several years younger, and have so much potential if they can develop properly. Guys like Frank, Dotson, Barrett, and Mitchell Robinson should all be starting and playing all the minutes they can handle. Keep in mind we have a top 10 draft pick this year and that could be a game-changer. IF, they nail the pick, BIG IF!
If the Knicks want to compete in our lifetime, they have to stop treating first-round picks like a bag of peanuts and throwing them away nonchalantly. Those are picks that can completely change the whole dynamics of a franchise. Again, there is no denying the talent that CP3 brings, but the direction the Knicks should go, CP3 does not fit in our future plans.
