Week 3 Preview: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Denver Broncosby Jacob Dunne September 25, 2020 0 comments
Week 3 finds us at Empower Field at Mile High to see the Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the Denver Broncos. The Buccaneers are coming into the game after dismantling the Carolina Panthers, and the Broncos are limping in after falling short to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Broncos are coming off a tough Week 2 loss against the Steelers in Pittsburgh. Drew Lock suffered a right shoulder injury after being strip-sacked by Bud Dupree in the first quarter of Sunday’s game. Shortly after that, Courtland Sutton tore his ACL after getting tangled up with cornerback Joe Haden. Backup quarterback Jeff Driskel performed admirably in place of Lock, throwing for 256 yards and two touchdowns. He found Noah Fant for a 20-yard touchdown in the third quarter followed by a 16-yard pass to running back Melvin Gordon in the fourth quarter. The Broncos defense was relatively quiet, forcing two turnovers and only one sack. With Sutton out for the season and Lock expected to miss anywhere from 2-6 weeks, it’s up to Driskel to keep this Broncos team afloat in the meantime. Driskel will hope to guide this team to its first victory against the Buccaneers.
Meanwhile, the Buccaneers are coming off a convincing 31-17 win against their division rival Panthers. Brady didn’t have to do much in the victory as the defense took care of business, collecting five sacks and forcing four turnovers on the day. Mike Evans stepped up for an injured Chris Godwin (concussion) and recorded 104 yards and a touchdown on seven catches. Leonard Fournette helped seal the game with a 46-yard rumble to the house with 1:48 to go in the fourth quarter. He finished the game with a season-high 103 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Brady will look to even his all-time record against the Broncos (8-9) this Sunday as a member of the Buccaneers. With Godwin set to make his return from injury, Brady’s offense will be at full strength heading into Week 3.

Points Spread: TB -6 (-110) | DEN +6 (-110)

Over/Under: O 43.5 (-110) | U 43.5 (-110)
The public has been hammering the Buccaneers ever since the line opened. The Buccaneers’ point spread jumped from -3.5 to -6. Expect Brady to take advantage of a banged up Broncos secondary and hit Godwin and Evans for multiple big plays. Driskel is going to have a tough time staying upright after being hit 19 times by the Steelers last week. The Buccaneers will have a full week to prepare for Driskel, which doesn’t bode well for this Broncos offense. Expect the Buccaneers to cover the six-point spread.
The Broncos come out firing and take an early lead before the Buccaneers answer and tie it up before halftime. Coming out of the break, Brady erupts for two consecutive scoring drives to give the Buccaneers a comfortable lead. The Buccaneers defense force a few turnovers down the stretch and Fournette runs out the clock to seal the victory.
Final Score: Buccaneers 27, Broncos 17
