Report: Marlins Acquire Starling Marte From Diamondbacks for 3 Pitchers

It’s been a crazy week so far with plenty of trades. Now, the Marlins are getting in on the action as they acquire dynamic outfielder Starling Marte from the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The full trade sends Marte to Miami in exchange for pitchers Caleb Smith, Humberto Meija, and Julio Frias.

This is a huge trade for the Marlins, who are proving that they want to contend this year. Currently sitting in second place in the NL East and just three games behind the Atlanta Braves, this was a must-make move for the Marlins.

Marte has been having a pretty decent year so far with a .311 batting average, 23 runs scored, two home runs, five stolen bases, and 14 RBI. He gives the Marlins a much-needed power boost in their lineup and will slot in right away as the starting outfielder for a team that consists of Jon Berti, Lewis Brinson, Garrett Cooper, Matt Joyce, and Jesus Sanchez.
