1. Oakland A’s
The A’s continue to be the best team in the American League thanks to a lethal offense, headlined by Matt Chapman. Even without fans, which they never had under normal conditions, they are dominant in Oakland with a 13-4 record at home.
2. Tampa Bay Rays
After a sweep of the Yankees, the Rays moved into first place of the AL East. They need to address their depleted pitching staff at the deadline to really contend but the Rays have proved that they are no joke.
3. Minnesota Twins
The Twins were carried to the AL Central crown last season by their lineup. Their pitching is what is keeping them (barely) at the top of the central.
4. Cleveland Indians
Death, taxes, and the Indians pumping out talented pitchers. Triston McKenzie made his major league debut against the Tigers on Saturday and picked up the win. The bats are still trying to figure everything out, but they are well on their way.
5. Houston Astros
This team was red-hot before getting swept by the Padres. That is the reason that they fall below the Indians.ad their seven
6. New York Yankees
Everyone’s hurt, they got swept out of first place, and now they had their series canceled against the Mets. They fall a very long way down because everything is going wrong.
7. Chicago White Sox
The White Sox just had their seven-game win streak snapped but they literally cannot stop hitting home runs. They have reinserted themselves right back into the AL Central chase.
8. Toronto Blue Jays
The pitching staff has been better than many people thought. With their young core starting to heat up, the Blue Jays are fighting to get into the playoff picture.
9. Baltimore Orioles
I gave this team to much respect in last week’s power rankings. They are falling back to earth. Their lack of talent could only hold on for so long.
10. Texas Rangers
The Rangers would be wise to just blow this whole thing up. They are going nowhere and have too much talent on the major league roster right now. Lance Lynn and Mike Minor could be some of the big names on the move at the deadline.
11. Los Angeles Angels
Another season missing the postseason with Mike Trout on the roster is unacceptable. They need to hit the deadline as buyers. They have a very talented team, but they need pitching.
12. Kansas City Royals
13. Detriot Tigers
Usually, the answer to a bad team is to blow it up. However, the Tigers have nothing to blow up. The plus side is that Casey Mize, Tarik Skubal, and Isaac Paredes are all promising prospects up at the major league level.
14. Seattle Mariners
It’s finally time for the Mariners to bring up their talented prospects because what they are doing now is not working.
15. Boston Red Sox
