This year won’t be head coach Mike Zimmer’s last with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings and Zimmer are finalizing a multi-year contract extension, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Zimmer was entering the final year of his contract. At the age of 64, he is tied for the seventh-longest-tenured head coach in the NFL behind Bill Belichick, Sean Payton, Mike Tomlin, John Harbaugh, Pete Carroll and Andy Reid.

Last year, the Vikings finished 10-6 and advanced to the Divisional Round of the playoffs after winning the Wild Card game.

Under Zimmer, the Vikings are 57-38-1 in the regular season and 2-3 in the playoffs. He is the third-most winningest coach in Vikings history behind Dennis Green and Bud Grant.

The Vikings have won two NFC North titles under Zimmer. Now, we’ll see if he can lead them to a Super Bowl title.
