Jets Sign Draft Pick Bryce Hall

The Jets have signed their fifth-round selection, cornerback Bryce Hall who they picked at number 158.

Field Yates and Rich Cimini of ESPN were the first to shed light on the reported deal.

Hall played in 39 of 44 games between 2016 and 2019 for the Virginia Cavaliers. He reeled in 154 tackles, four sacks, five interactions, and three forced fumbles. His 2019 was cut short by injury, but he earned a 91.4 coverage grade and had 23 forced incompletions in 2018.

Bryce had his senior season cut down because of ankle surgery.  He was having his best season yet and was on pace for 20 tackles, one sack, and four pass breakups.

“[Hall’s] backpedal and transitions are more functional than fluid and could be exploited by NFL route-runners and speedsters,” according to an NFL scout. “His reactive quickness and ball skills fit nicely into zone-based coverages, allowing greater freedom to spy quarterbacks and squeeze short and intermediate throws. He can handle man coverage, but he needs protection over the top. Hall is a future starting cornerback but might garner attention at free safety at some point in his career.”

Hall is the first of the Jets’ nine draft picks to sign a contract. Notable picks that have yet to sign include OT Mekhi Becton and WR Denzel Mims.
