The marquee opening week matchup pits Tom Brady and Drew Brees head-to-head in one of the most anticipated and decorated quarterback showdowns in league history.
The two future first-ballot Hall of Famers have passed for a combined 151,987 yards and 1,088 touchdowns. Brees is the all-time career leader in both categories while Brady ranks second.
While Brees maintains the slight statistical lead, Brady holds the decisive edge in team success with 219 wins and six Super Bowl titles to Brees’ 163 wins and one ring. Brady is the league’s all-time winningest quarterback while Brees currently sits at fourth.
The two have faced off five times previously with Brees holding the 3-2 advantage. However, two of those wins came with the then-San Diego Chargers. Brady’s Patriots topped Brees’ Saints in the two most recent matchups, with the most recent coming in 2017.
In that 2017 bout, Brady led New England to a 36-20 home victory while throwing for 443 yards and three touchdowns. Brees threw for 356 yards and two touchdowns in the losing effort.
