Team Needs

Wide Receiver: The Saints could use some wide receiver help to boost the strength they already have at that position. Another reason the Saints could use a wide receiver is so they can learn from the great Michael Thomas and help him out with making big plays down the field. The more weapons Drew Brees has, the more deadly the Saints will be.

Adding a guy like Justin Jefferson from LSU or Brandon Aiyuk from Arizona State could boost that wide receiver unit and give that offense more options. Sean Payton loves the passing game and would certainly appreciate added young talent on his team.

The Saints came off a great regular season in 2019 and are looking to make their offense even stronger going into 2020. If the Saints can add to the receiver group, they will be a hard team to beat.

Linebacker: The linebacker position for the Saints held their ground last year but could use a couple more playmakers. Demario Davis is 31 years old and could use some assistance on the defensive side of the ball. Davis is a great player who still has tons of talent, the team’s defensive line is great, and they have a solid secondary, but if New Orleans can add even more talent at the linebacker position, they will be nearly unstoppable.

Scoring will be hard for other teams, especially is they add someone like Kenneth Murray from Oklahoma or Patrick Queen from LSU. These guys could help the Saints on defense in a big way. Both are fast and physical and would fit in perfectly. The Saints would be moving in the right direction by drafting one of those top talents.

Quarterback: Drew Brees is one of the greatest quarterbacks to play the game. He has been the Saints’ backbone for years and led them to nothing but success. However, he is getting up there in age (41) and finding his replacement for when he retires is very important. It is important to find a quarterback now because that young prospect can learn from Drew Brees.

If someone like Jordan Love from Utah State can work behind Brees, learning each and every day, he will be ready to fill his role. Having Drew Brees as a mentor and watching him play will help a guy like Love get ready and adapted to the NFL. The Saints would be smart to go for a quarterback in this draft so they can get at least a year with Brees under their belt. Whoever comes to New Orleans to work behind Brees will be a lucky and talented player.
