Although the hockey world has been on pause, the Bruins have been busy over the past two months.

In March, the Bruins signed defenseman Nick Wolf out of the University of Minnesota- Duluth and forward Jack Ahcan out of St. Cloud State. The Bruins also signed their fourth-round pick in the 2017 NHL draft, Jeremy Swayman, to an entry-level deal.

Yesterday, the organization continued to improve their depth as the Providence Bruins announced that they had agreed to terms with Brady Lyle and Alex-Olivier Voyer on two-year AHL deals.

The Providence Bruins also agreed to a one-year extension with Joel Messner.

Lyle will join Providence after six years in the OHL. The Canadian native is coming off of his best season yet. In 62 games for the Owen Sound Track this year, he had 22 goals and 43 assists before the season was canceled. It was the second straight season in which Lyle had 40 points or more and at least 30 assists. In 184 regular-season games since joining the Owen Sound, Lyle has scored 42 goals and recorded 96 assists.

Olivier-Voyer, like Lyle, is coming off a career year. In 63 games for the Sherbrooke Phoenix this season, the young forward had 44 goals and 44 assists. The Canadian winger has spent the last five seasons in the QMJHL. In that span, he has scored 95 goals and recorded 108 assists. Olivier-Voyer was also effective in the playoffs last year, posting 11 points in nine games.

Joining them will be Joel Messner, who will not be getting his first taste of AHL action. Messner appeared in 32 games for Providence during the 2018-2019 season and had seven points. In 59 games for the ECHL Gladiators, this season, the 26-year-old had eight goals and 29 assists. Before his stints with the Gladiators, Messner spent four seasons at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Although the AHL season is over, these three will add more depth to a Providence team that finished first in the Atlantic Division this past season. Lyle and Messner will help improve the blueline while Olivier-Voyer gives Providence another scoring weapon. They will be hoping to make a good first impression with their new team and perhaps earn a spot in Boston at some point next season.
