BOSTON, Mass. –– Patriots owner Robert Kraft is sending the Patriots team jet to China to help transport 1.2 million medical masks to Massachusetts hospitals to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The plane sent to Shenzen, China will arrive in Boston full of personal protective equipment and N95 medical masks Thursday afternoon. Kraft wanted the plane to fit 1.7 million medical masks onboard but the plane would only fit 1.2 million.

Robert Kraft is using the New England Patriots team plane to transport one million N95 masks from China directly to Massachusetts hospitals.

The plane will arrive in Boston full of personal protective equipment this afternoon.

“It is an honor for our family to be a part of this humanitarian mission. We knew that purchasing greatly-needed N95 masks and providing the Patriots plane to expedite their delivery to local hospitals would immediately help protect our courageous healthcare professionals,” Kraft said.

Kraft spent “several million dollars” on the mask mission according to sources close to the family. Kraft and the Patriots are getting a round of applause by Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker.

“No days off. Thanks to some serious teamwork, Massachusetts is set to receive over 1 million N95 masks for our front-line workers.”

Kraft spoke about his support of Baker’s leadership, saying “Multiple organizations across the public and private sectors, all of which were in lockstep with Governor Charlie Baker’s visionary leadership, worked together to execute this mission with the purpose of helping save lives.”

That Patriots aren’t taking the “Do Your Job” mantra lightly during this pandemic.

“I truly hope that in doing so, we can, in some way, inspire others to find creative ways to give more in support of our doctors, nurses, and first responders. It’s nice to care for those who provide such compassionate care for us,” Kraft said.

Kraft and Baker will greet the plane at Boston Logan National Airport in Boston, Mass. on Thursday afternoon. The masks will then be sent to Marlborough, Mass. where they will be distributed to hospitals in both Massachusetts and New York.
