It is a new era but more of the same for quarterback Tom Brady.
Per Adam Schefter, the six-time Super Bowl champion has officially been assigned the No.12, previously occupied by wide receiver Chris Godwin.

While Godwin, changed his number to 14.
Godwin stated in an interview that while he has grown attached to the No.12, he would have no problem giving it away to Brady who is considered among his peers to be the best to ever play the quarterback position.
“Obviously if he doesn’t want it or isn’t making a big deal about it, I’m definitely going to keep it,” Godwin said in an interview earlier in the month. “But we’ll see how it goes. I think just out of respect for what he’s done, what he’s accomplished, just the kind of career he’s built for himself… you’ve got to kind of lean into that respect, you know?”
There was reportedly no transaction between the two and Godwin gave the number to Brady out of respect.
