Could J.J. Watt Join Brothers in Pittsburgh?

The Pittsburgh Steelers decided to sign fullback Derek Watt to a three-year deal worth $9.75 million on Tuesday. Derek Watt joins his brother, T.J., in Pittsburgh. T.J. plays outside linebacker for the Steelers and is one of the best outside linebackers in the game.

J.J. Watt, currently on the Houston Texans, is the other Watt brother in the NFL. J.J. is one of the best defensive ends in the NFL when healthy.

J.J. Watt just saw DeAndre Hopkins traded to the Arizona Cardinals. Hopkins is one of the best wide receivers in the game.

Considering this, could J.J. consider asking for a trade to. Pittsburgh?

The answer should be yes.

J.J. Watt isn’t going to win a Super Bowl in the “Space City.” Houston should just start a rebuild at this point and perhaps even. trade star quarterback Deshaun Watson, as well.

J.J.’s career seems to be almost over and the Pittsburgh Steelers would be a good fit for him. Pittsburgh has a nasty defense and we will see how good it is moving forward if they were to acquire him.

J.J. Watt is only 30 years old and he has already won a couple of Defensive Player of the Year awards in his NFL career. On the other side of things, the Steelers need a nose tackle because they lost one of the key players on their defensive line in Javon Hargrave, who signed with the Eagles.

Watt would be a nice fill-in on the defensive line in this situation, but they need more of an interior defensive lineman and there is no question that they would welcome J.J. Watt with open arms. He would be another leader on the defensive side of the ball for coordinator Keith Butler.

Watt returned for the playoffs last season after he tore his pectoral muscle back in Week 8 against the Oakland Raiders. Watt was effective in the postseason but it remains to be seen if he will continue to stay healthy or not.

Watt only played in eight games last season. He had three pass deflections and forced one fumble. He also recorded four sacks and 24 tackles, including four for a loss.

Watt is also one of the best people on and off the field as his presence (or lack thereof) would be a huge loss for the city of Houston and he would be a huge gain for the city of Pittsburgh.

Three brothers playing on the same team in the NFL would be fun and exciting to watch, but it works in a logistical fashion, too.

Head coach Mike Tomlin would welcome him with open arms. This franchise is looking for Super Bowl title No. 7 in any way possible as they are currently tied with the New England Patriots with six rings.

While far-fetched, J.J. Watt asking for a trade to the Pittsburgh Steelers wouldn’t be completely ridiculous.

The Texans may finish in last place in the AFC South while the Steelers compete for an AFC North crown. The ball is in J.J. Watt’s court as he has a struggling general manager as his boss who can easily ship him away to play with his two brothers as he pushes for a title that would make history in Pittsburgh and across the NFL.
