Rival Executives: Knicks Shopping “Everyone But RJ”

From “We’re getting LeBron this summer…wait, maybe…….KD? We are 100 percent getting Kyrie……ok, wait…we will get Boogie……ugh, we signed four power forwards…..well, at least one is Julius Randle,” to now sitting at 11-31 and one of the worst teams in the NBA.

It’s safe to say the Knicks last eight months haven’t been anything to write home about.

Now, with just under three weeks until the trade deadline, New York is one of the most active teams on the trade lines, multiple sources tell Prime Time Sports.

As reported last week, the Knicks discussed a Kyle Kuzma deal with the Lakers and continue to eye that situation.

While that’s one story, another is the Knicks desire to acquire an asset for Marcus Morris. Morris, after ditching the Spurs this summer, signed a one-year, $15 million deal to join the Knicks. New York’s goal, from the start, was to flip Morris at the deadline for a future asset – which, as of now, seems very likely, per source.

Rival executives tell Prime Time Sports, Knicks management has been calling and informing teams “everyone can be had, except RJ.” Barrett, of course, referring to Knicks standout rookie RJ Barrett – the 3rd overall selection out of Duke. Barrett is having himself a nice rookie campaign, averaging 14 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.

“The Knicks would trade Mitchell Robinson? No way…”

Yes, way.

The last time New York had a winning season was 2012-2013. That needs to change — the NBA is a better league when the Knicks are competitive. So, yes, trading Mitchell Robinson is not out of the question if it helps improve the team going forward. The main reason why they could deal their young center? Andre Drummond, who will enter free agency this summer and is expected to have many suitors. Drummond is a dominant, young big man who played college ball miles away from the Garden at UCONN.

Other notable names to keep an eye on are Bobby Portis, Dennis Smith Jr., and Taj Gibson.

As the deadline gets closer –– expect more noise and rumors the Knicks –– but for now, everyone can be had, except RJ Barrett.
