Quietly sitting in second place at 27-12, the Denver Nuggets are expressing interest in Grizzlies forward Andre Iguodala, league sources tell Prime Time Sports Talk.
Iguodala, a multi-time NBA champion, has been on the shelf the entire season as Memphis refuses to work out a buyout. They have told opposing general managers, “If you want him, come get him. We will not be buying him out.”
The Nuggets, as usual, have quietly been one of the best teams in the NBA, led by their under-the-radar MVP candidate, Nikola Jokic.
With the Warriors sitting in last in the Western Conference, Denver sees this year as their time to make a run to the finals. With one of the deepest rosters in the league, adding Iguodala would give the Nuggets another perimeter defender, solid three-point shooting, and perhaps the most important thing: a player with deep playoff run experience.
According to league sources, Denver initiated trade talks by offering forward Jerami Grant, who has a player option this summer for just under $10 million. Memphis wanted a first-round pick in the deal as well, but as of now, the Nuggets have rebuffed that offer.
