Falcons’ practice report

Did not practice: DE Takkarist McKinley (groin)

Limited: WR Russell Gage (knee), WR Julio Jones (hip), C Alex Mack (knee), T Kaleb McGary (elbow)

Panthers’ practice report

Did not practice: CB Eli Apple (hamstring), DT Zach Kerr (toe), T Russell Okung (calf)

Limited: G John Miller (ankle)

The Panthers released Apple on Tuesday afternoon, shortly after posting their practice report.

Landon Collins done for season

Washington has placed safety Landon Collins on season-ending IR with an Achilles injury, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Panthers designate McCaffrey to return

The Panthers have designated running back Christian McCaffrey (ankle) to return. The team now has 21 days to activate him from IR.

Belichick says Newton isn’t dealing with lingering COVID-19 symptoms

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick says quarterback Cam Newton, who struggled immensely in Week 7, is not dealing with any aftereffects of COVID-19. Often a man of few words, Belichick did the team “would list him on the injury report if he was [dealing with something]. I don’t think he’s had any symptoms the whole way.”

Chris Godwin undergoes finger surgery

Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin fractured his left index finger while making a touchdown catch on Sunday, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. Godwin will miss Week 8, but the team is optimistic he can return for Week 9.

Monday, Oct. 26

Falcons’ practice report

Limited: WR Russell Gage (knee), WR Julio Jones (hip), C Alex Mack (knee), T Kaleb McGary (elbow), DE Takkarist McKinley (groin)

Panthers’ practice report

Did not practice

Vikings designate Elflein to return

The Vikings have designated center Pat Elflein to return, activating his 21-day practice window.

Hyde battling hamstring injury

Seahawks running back Carlos Hyde is dealing with hamstring tightness, according to head coach Pete Carroll. This is a bit of a concern for the Seahawks considering fellow running back Chris Carson (ankle) is expected to miss Week 8.

Deebo Samuel to miss time

49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel (hamstring) is expected to miss two weeks.

Broncos’ Patrick is day-to-day

Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick (hamstring) is expected to be evaluated on a day-to-day basis, per head coach Vic Fangio.

Purcell done for season

Broncos nose tackle Mike Purcell is expected to miss the remainder of the season after suffering a Lisfranc injury on Sunday, according to James Palmer of NFL Network.

Drake to miss time

Cardinals running back Kenyan Drake suffered a ligament tear in his ankle and is expected to miss several weeks, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Chase Edmonds will slot in as Arizona’s starter.

Virgil Green destined for IR?

Chargers tight end Virgil Green (ankle) could be placed on IR, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Jackson placed on IR

The Eagles have placed wide receiver DeSean Jackson (ankle) on IR.

Jonah Williams could miss Week 8

Bengals left tackle Jonah Williams (neck) could miss Week 8, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Mixon improves to day-to-day

Bengals running back Joe Mixon (ankle) is now being treated on a day-to-day basis, per head coach Zac Taylor. This is promising news after it was originally reported that there was a legitimate chance that Mixon would be inactive for Week 8.

Chris Carson week-to-week

Seahawks running back Chris Carson is dealing with a mid-foot sprain and is being treated on a week-to-week basis, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. It seems unlikely that Carson will play this week, leaving Carlos Hyde as the team’s presumed starter.

Jets’ Perriman in concussion protocol

Jets wide receiver Breshad Perriman currently in concussion protocol after taking a huge hit from Bills safety Micah Hyde on Sunday.

McCaffrey returns to practice

Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey returned to practice on Monday. He’s a longshot to play on Thursday vs. the Falcons, but his return to drills bodes well for his Week 9 status.

Phillip Lindsay in concussion protocol

Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay is currently in concussion protocol after leaving Sunday’s game vs. the Chiefs early.

Jeff Wilson Jr. lands on IR

The 49ers have placed running back Jeff Wilson Jr. on IR with a high-ankle sprain. JaMycal Hasty and Jerick McKinnon will take on the lead roles in a banged-up San Francisco backfield.

Eagles activate Reagor’s practice window

The Eagles have designated wide receiver Jalen Reagor (shoulder) for return, meaning he can practice without being activated from IR for the next three weeks. If he is not activated by the end of this 21-day window, he will miss the remainder of the season. That shouldn’t be an issue, though, because Reagor is on track to play as soon as this weekend.

Dede Westbrook tears ACL

Jaguars wide receiver Dede Westbrook tore his ACL on Sunday and is done for the season.

Dalton enters concussion protocol

Cowboys quarterback Andy Dalton has entered the concussion protocol after being on the receiving end of a ferocious hit from Washington linebacker Jon Bostic on Sunday.

Odell Beckham Jr. tears ACL

Testing has confirmed that Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. tore his ACL and is done for the year. This is a crushing blow for a Cleveland team that looked like legitimate contenders this year. They’ll now turn to Jarvis Landry, Donovan Peoples-Jones, and Rashard Higgins as their top receiving options. Tight ends Austin Hooper, Harrison Bryant, and David Njoku are also in line to see expanded roles.
