Whether you’re looking to set your fantasy lineup or merely keep up with your team, it’s important to follow injuries across the league. We’re tracking every ailment that could impact a player’s Week 6 status.

Bye weeks: Los Angeles Chargers, New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks, Las Vegas Raiders

Friday, Oct. 16

Fant questionable, Lock “probable”

Broncos head coach Vic Fangio said that tight end Noah Fant (ankle) is truly questionable for Week 6. He added that quarterback Drew Lock (shoulder) would be listed as probable if the designation still existed.

Akins will be game-time decision

Texans tight end Jordan Akins (concussion) is “improving” but has still “made little progress,” according to head coach Romeo Crennel (via Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle). He’ll be a game-time decision in Week 6.

Darius Slay clears concussion protocol

Eagles cornerback Darius Slay has cleared concussion protocol and will play in Week 6.

Odell Beckham Jr. tests negative for COVID-19, won’t practice

Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. missed practice on Thursday with an illness. He has since tested negative for COVID-19 but will remain absent from practice on Thursday.

Thursday, Oct. 15

Sam Hubbard placed on IR

The Bengals have placed defensive end Sam Hubbard on injured reserve with an elbow injury.

Darrynton Evans placed on IR

The Titans have placed backup running back Darrynton Evans (hamstring) on IR.

Wednesday, Oct. 14

Newton, Gilmore returning to practice

The Patriots are activating quarterback Cam Newton and cornerback Stephon Gilmore from the Reserve/COVID-19 list. The duo will return to practice on Thursday.

Kawann Short done for season

The Panthers’ defensive line was dealt a blow on Wednesday with Kawann Short (shoulder) going down for the season.

Humphries returns from COVID list

The Titans have activated wide receiver Adam Humphries off the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

Keenan Allen “will be fine”

Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn says wide receiver Keenan Allen, who missed a portion of MNF with back spasms, “will be fine” when the Chargers return from their bye next week.

Adams set to return for Packers

Green Bay receiver Davante Adams (hamstring) practiced in full on Wednesday and is expected to suit up and be active in Week 6.

Lock expected to return in Week 6

The Broncos expect quarterback Drew Lock to return in Week 6, according to DNVR’s Zac Stevens. The second-year signal-caller hasn’t taken the field since suffering a shoulder injury in Week 2.

McCaffrey remains sidelined

Panthers star running back Christian McCaffrey (ankle) is eligible to return from IR this week but will likely be held out for at least one more game.

Mims returning to practice

Jets rookie receiver Denzel Mims has been cleared to return to practice. The team has 21 days to activate him from IR to their active roster.

Sam Darnold out for second straight week

Jets quarterback Sam Darnold (shoulder) has been ruled out for Week 6. Joe Flacco will start under center again.

Ozigbo designated to return

Jaguars running back Devine Ozigbo has been designated to return from IR. He has 21 days to be formally activated.

Tuesday, Oct. 13

Chiefs place Sherman on COVID list

The Chiefs have placed fullback Anthony Sherman on the COVID-19 list.

Jets place Chris Hogan on IR

Jets wide receiver Chris Hogan has landed on IR with a high-ankle sprain.

Godchaux tears biceps

Dolphins defensive tackle Davon Godchaux is feared to have suffered a torn biceps injury on Sunday, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. If confirmed, the impactful lineman will be out for the remainder of his final year under contract.

Dalvin Cook (groin) out for Week 6

The Vikings are expected to rule out star running back Dalvin Cook (groin) ahead of Week 6, according to Chad Graff of The Athletic. Alexander Mattison, who impressed on Sunday night, will take over as the starter.

Lorenzo Carter ruptures Achilles

As feared, Giants linebacker Lorenzo Carter ruptures his Achilles on Sunday and will miss the rest of the season.

Monday, Oct. 12

Benardrick McKinney lands on IR

The Texans are placing linebacker Benardrick McKinney on IR. He’ll undergo shoulder surgery and miss the rest of the season.

Wyatt Teller week-to-week

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said guard Wyatt Teller is week-to-week after injuring his calf on Sunday.

D.J. Reader placed on IR

The Bengals have placed defensive tackle D.J. Reader (quad) on injured reserve.

Chandler Jones done for season

Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury says he fears star pass-rusher Chandler Jones suffered a biceps tear on Sunday. If confirmed, this injury will be season-ending.

Kyle Allen to start at QB if healthy

Washington head coach Ron Rivera confirmed that Kyle Allen (arm) will be named the team’s starter in Week 6 if he is healthy. He exited Week 5’s game against the Rams and was replaced by Alex Smith (leg). If Allen can’t go in Week 6, the starting job will likely go to Smith, with Dwayne Haskins (coach’s decision) in the No. 2 role.

Wingard lands on IR

The Jaguars placed safety Andrew Wingard on IR with a core muscle injury.

Hogan suffers high ankle sprain

Jets wide receiver Chris Hogan suffered a high ankle sprain on Sunday and, barring unexpected test results, will miss time.

Vita Vea placed on IR

The Buccaneers have placed defensive tackle Vita Vea on IR with a season-ending leg injury. His astounding presence will be missed by the Bucs’ defensive line going forward.

Osemele tears tendons in both knees

Chiefs offensive lineman Kelechi Osemele tore tendons in both of his knees on Sunday and will likely miss the remainder of the season, according to Nate Taylor of The Athletic.

Watkins to miss time

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins is expected to miss a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury. Mecole Hardman and DeMarcus Robinson should see more reps in his absence.

McCaffrey’s status up in the air?

Panthers head coach Matt Rhule says that no decision has been made regarding the Week 6 status of Christian McCaffrey (ankle). The star running back will undergo testing to determine whether or not he is healthy enough to return from IR.

Browns place Greedy Williams on IR

The Browns have placed cornerback Greedy Williams (shoulder) on IR. He’ll be eligible to return as soon as Week 9.

Mayfield vows to play Week 6

When speaking to the media, Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield (ribs) said he’ll play in Week 6. “Oh, yeah,” proclaimed the one-time Heisman Trophy winner. “Mama didn’t raise no wuss.”

Garoppolo (ankle) day-to-day

When asked about his status for Week 6, 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who re-aggravated his akle on Sunday, said, “I really haven’t thought that far ahead. I guess we’ll just take it day by day with the ankle and see how it goes.”

Dak Prescott undergoes season-ending surgery

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott underwent successful surgery after suffering a right ankle compound fracture and dislocation on Sunday, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. He will miss the rest of the season.
