Finally, an injury update not dominated by quarterbacks. That only took eleven weeks. This week there are several skill players instead.
Trey Burton TE Chicago Bears
Burton’s 2019 season came to a premature end after the Bears placed him on IR due to a calf strain and groin strain. Hopefully, given extended recovery time, he will be able to fully recover and return to his 2018 form in 2020. Recovery from this type of injury can’t be rushed, and IR is probably the best for him. He can let the strain heal and regain strength in the muscles during his offseason and return raring to go next season.
Alshon Jeffery WR Philadelphia Eagles
Jeffery has been ruled out for Sunday’s game when the Eagles take on the New England Patriots. Jeffery suffered a high ankle sprain in the Eagles week nine game against the Bears. He was ruled out of Sunday’s game and is considered to be week to week at this point. Depending on the severity of the sprain normal recovery for a grade one high ankle sprain is one to three weeks and a grade two is four to six weeks. His status is one that will require close monitoring going forward.
Emmanuel Sanders WR San Francisco 49ers
Sanders suffered a rib cartilage injury in the 49ers week ten game against the Seahawks. He improved thru the week and plans to try to play when the 49ers meet the Arizona Cardinals in week eleven. Sanders will wear a protective shirt to provide support and protection to his injured ribs. How effective he will remain to be seen. The main issue with this type of injury is pain control because rib injuries can be extremely painful and the pain can limit movement. I wouldn’t expect his usual level of production this week due to the injury
Devonta Freeman RB Atlanta Falcons
Freeman is expected to miss two to three weeks because of a midfoot strain. From the information available, it appears that this is a grade one strain which carries a one to three week recovery timeline. I wouldn’t expect to see him back on the field until week thirteen at the earliest
