Report: Portland Trail Blazers Agree to Deal with Carmelo Anthony

In breaking news this evening, the Portland Trail Blazers have signed Carmelo Anthony. The Trail Blazers are looking for a scoring spark as they have struggled so far, with their record at 4-8.

The news was first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, who adds that the deal is non-guaranteed.

Anthony has not played in over 365 days, with his last NBA game having been played on Oct. 8, 2018. He was waived after ten underwhelming games with the Houston Rockets last season.

With Jusuf Nurkic and Zach Collins out for a considerable amount of time, the Blazers could use some forward depth, and Carmelo may fit in well.

Damian Lillard and Carmelo Anthony will finally be on the same team together. Back in the summer of 2017, Lillard tried to recruit Anthony, but he ultimately signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Carmelo signing a contract is something I’ve been pushing for since Houston waived him, and him striking a deal with the Trail Blazers is a good fit. Despite Damian Lillard heavily recruiting Carmelo in the past, the Trail Blazers were not one of the five teams I said should give him a call

The Trail Blazers’ next game will be played on Saturday against the San Antonio Spurs.
