“First ‘w’ being back home, many more to come. Looking forward to playing in front of this crowd every single night. I love this man. This is our home. This is our home!”
That was a quote former Boston Celtic-turned Brooklyn Net Kyrie Irving made – four days ago – after he drilled a game-clinching 3-pointer to deliver his new team a victory over their crosstown rivals, the New York Knicks.
Irving finished with 26 points in that contest, showing flashes as to why he is one of the greatest point guards to play the game.
Yet, it is still comical, that with each passing hour, the baggage that comes along with him has already begun to rear its ugly head, with the latest report surfacing early Tuesday morning.
According to ESPN’s Jackie MacMullen, Irving’s mood swings have already started to ruffle feathers within the Nets’ organization, most notably team officials. The key line from sources in MacMullen’s new article?
‘When Irving lapses into these funks, he often shuts down, unwilling to communicate with the coaching staff, front office, and sometimes, even his teammates. Nets team sources say one such episode occurred during Brooklyn’s trip to China, leaving everyone scratching their heads as to what precipitated it.’
Well, that didn’t take long.
