What more can be said about injuries that happened in week four except another week another quarterback injured. Let’s take a look at some of the notable injuries that will play a part in week five games.
Josh Allen Quarterback Buffalo Bills
Allen was knocked out of the Bills game against the New England Patriots last week on this play.
He was in concussion protocol all week and was finally cleared Saturday morning. If you want to read about how the various sports leagues deal with head injuries you can find that here.
On Friday, Coach Sean McDermott said he was comfortable starting Allen providing he was cleared by the medical consultant. Since he was, I expect Allen to be the Bills quarterback on Sunday and if needed, Matt Barkley will be available as the Bills quarterback.
Mitchell Trubisky Quarterback Chicago Bears
What can I say, another week another starting quarterback injured. Trubisky suffered a shoulder dislocation and slight labral tear in his nonthrowing shoulder. Normal recovery time is four to eight weeks. Since the injury is in his nonthrowing arm he should be able to return to the lineup once swelling and pain relief is achieved by wearing a bracing device to provide additional support to the shoulder. The earliest I would expect him back would be week seven or eight. In the meantime, Chase Daniels and Tyler Bray will be the starting quarterback and backup for Chicago.
Jarvis Landry Wide Receiver Cleveland Browns
Like Allen, Landry suffered a head injury and spent the week in the concussion protocol. He has been cleared to play by the independent neurological consultant for the Browns and will be active for the Browns.
Bradley Chubb Outside Linebacker Denver Broncos
Chubb suffered a partial tear to his ACL last week. He was actually able to return to the game and play with the injury, but make no mistake, his season is over. He will undergo surgery to repair the ligament. If you want to read more about the injury and its repair, I covered that here.
Well, that concludes the update for this week. Let’s hope week five is the start of better protection for the starting quarterbacks.
