As we all know by now, the Boston Red Sox will not get a chance to defend their 2018 World Series title.
With what looks like a tough postseason battle between many talented clubs from both leagues, who do you root for this year?
A team with the likes of Justin Verlander, Gerrit Cole, and Zach Grienke in their starting rotation will give opposing hitters nightmares. Not to mention veterans like Jose Altuve, George Springer, Alex Bregman, Yuli Gurriel, and Josh Reddick to tack on the runs makes them the clear-cut favorites in the American League. I will certainly (not enthusiastically) pick them as the champs after it is all said and done. The talent is too much to overcome.
New York Yankees
While the Twins have a legitimate roster, but they are still a couple of big moves away from a world series contender. With some more development, and a good signing and or trade, this team will be exciting to watch over the next couple of years.
There are many good teams in the hunt to dethrone the Dodgers. This is not a one-team race just yet.
One of my favorites to make it out of the National League, This team is legit, featuring the young phenoms of Ronald Acuña Jr., Ozzie Albies, and Mike Soroka. Mixed with a healthy dosage of veterans such as Freddie Freeman, Josh Donaldson, and Dallas Keuchel, the Braves look the most poised to attack the Dodgers head-on. This team can certainly push the limits of the Dodgers in a full best-of-seven series.
Los Angeles Dodgers
Yes, the team who has represented the National League the last two seasons have failed to seal the deal, and before that, coming up short in multiple playoff series –– but this team is practically primed to lose it all when they are always the “top dog” or the best the NL has to offer.
While watching from the sidelines again is no laughing matter, as a baseball fan, I cannot sit idly and pout over it. Might as well choose a team, place a bet, and hopefully win some cash to pay the bills.
