Plenty of games with run totals hovering around ten and eleven Friday. Ideally some exposure to Yankees and Red Sox bats is a good strategy to take but the high prices make it difficult to fit them in. The Cardinals and Twins, amongst others, offer up some interesting pivot plays to make room for pitching. Make sure to grab your scorecards, pens, and paper on this mega-slate, let’s go Around the Horn!
Zack Greinke ARI $10,500
The ownership on Greinke is likely going to be high as the D-Backs and Zack Grienke play the Miami Marlins at Marlins Park where offense tends to be hard to come by. It also helps that the Marlins are still a bad offense. The implied total of 7.5 is the lowest on the slate. In their previous 10 games, the Marlins are averaging 3.4 runs per game and 3.6 on the season. They are hitting .233 as a team versus right-handers. Greinke carries a 25% K rate against right-handed hitters which the Marlins have plenty of in their lineup.
Paul Goldschmidt STL 1B $4,500
It seems like forever since a player from the Cardinals has been featured in a write-up. With the Cardinals being really hot lately, five wins in a row and eight wins and just two losses in their last 10, now seems like a good time to roster a few of their players. Goldy has gone homer-happy of late cranking one out in four straight games against the Pirates. In 19 games this month he has turned things up a notch hitting .286 with eight HR and 22 RBI. Goldshmidt and the Cards will draw the Houston Astros and little-known starter Jose Urquidy who is 1-0 with a 5.54 ERA in three games this season.
Kolten Wong STL 2B $3,800
Just as I say it has been a long time that Cardinal players were featured in this column, two of them are highlighted already. Wong, like many in the Pirates series, caught fire in the four-game sweep. Three of the four games he reached double-digit totals in DK points. At this price tag, Wong is worth a roster spot in your lineups.
Jake Bauers CLE OF/1B $3,200
Stacking Cleveland bats against Jakob Junis is affordable and should be in play tonight. Junis has faced the Tribe four times this season and has compiled a full run higher to his season-long ERA of 4.83 against them. The Indians are a team on the rise recently and they know what to expect from Junis. All-time in 139 PA they are slashing a healthy .309/ .370/ .496 off of the Royals right-hander. Bauers profiles as an affordable value play here. He has four knocks in nine at-bats versus Junis.
Eddie Rosario MIN $4,800
Heading into Thursday’s action Mr. Rosario has compiled a really good string of games. His last 15 games have netted him 15 RBI, three HRs and a .368 batting average. The Twins, who’s bats have once again got hot, will draw right-hander Dylan Cease of the Chicago White Sox. Cease has struggled in limited action this season. He has faced the Tigers, Royals, and Rays and has a 6.19 ERA in 16 innings pitched, all this month. As for Rosario, in four games he has torched the White Sox averaging 15.3 DK pts per game.
